If anyone wants to practise his French, I wrote a review of PFAYM for our fanzine. :)

Too lazy to post my whole "review" at the moment but... whoever was the first one to mention the sniffing in Billion Balconies, thank you for ruining the song, 'cause that's all I hear now!

Slideling 15-09-2010 01:23

I don't pay attention to it, still.

Haha! Currently? It's always been a street and likely will continue to be a street. I don't think it has aspirations beyond just that. ;)

Sorry, just being a smartass! :)

Frozendiva 15-09-2010 03:41

Greatpretender, I haven't lived in the Centre of the Universe since the 90s....

I used to work just off Yorkville.

He'd be bored writing about where I live now. But maybe not.

Bryter Layter 15-09-2010 04:01

Haha! "Centre of the Universe"? Love it! Let me guess, you either reside now in Calgary, Vancouver or Montreal, correct? :)

You may hate us, but we'll always love you! xxx

On a serious note, it's nice to see more Canadian Manic fans participating on this forum. I'm really enjoying your posts, hun. Hope you stick around for a while; this is a pretty ace forum and the people are quite lovely...well, the majority are at least. ;)

is that somebody sniffing all the way through billion balconies!? it's so distracting. Who's great idea was that??

What's the significance of 'Hazelton Avenue'? Where is it?

I think the album's OK. I doubt I'll listen to it much when it's 'old' though...

YES, what the heck is that sniffing noise?! Only noticed it last time around, now don't think I'll be able to escape it whenever I listen to it in future - could wreck the whole track for me.

'Hazelton' just does not do it for me at all. Sounds like a JDB solo bside that didn't quite make it onto a single.

I'd give PFAYM a generous 7/10. It's probably the only Manics album along with Send Away the Tigers that's never truly grabbed me. I even got into Lifeblood at the time which looking back was somewhat misguided. Still, a few good songs on there.

1. The Holy Bible
2. Everything Must Go
3. Journal For Plague Lovers
4. Generation Terrorists
5. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
6. Know Your Enemy
7. Gold Against The Soul
8. Postcards From A Young Man
9. Send Away The Tigers
10. Lifeblood

Looking back at that list I could probably switch 3 & 4 around and 5 to 7 for that matter. It's too difficult!

*BUMP* We're nearly there!

Little Girl Lost 16-09-2010 12:07

I'm in love with it! Bumped EMG off my top spot! I don't think there is a single song on it I don't like!

Porco 16-09-2010 12:17

My signed copy of the standard version from play.com is in the post now apparently, is anyone else's?

*excited*

Fingers crossed it gets here Saturday.

Some people's have arrived today

franny 16-09-2010 12:22

Ooh if mine arrives tomorrow I will be a happy Franny, otherwise I'll have to wait until Monday and then buy the deluxe edition in the shops. Blooming Uni moving.

Deets 16-09-2010 12:24

nah, if mine comes until next Wednesday, I'll be happy.

deadmartyr 16-09-2010 12:31

Base.com sent my Mementos box yesterday I think and the same for Townsend with my Deluxe copy.

Typically, I can imagine the big box hasn't been handily left behind the gate when I get back if they've tried to post today.
