James often (in terms that I've seen him 5+ times waiting for one or getting in one) seems to get taxis from outside the New Theatre.

Probably to go and see his dad in Blackwood i should imagine.

Weirdly after seeing Nicky yesterday, have now seen James again! Have just got back from a cinema screening of 'Upside Down: The Creation Records Story' that also had a Q&A with Alan McGee, and Jimbo was there with Wayne Murray! He disappeared just before the end, probably to avoid any unwanted attention, leaving Wayne and another fella he was with to prop up the bar.

No passing mention of the Manics in the film by the way, though it was funny watching all the stuff about MBV and (briefly) Slowdive, thinking back to all those classic quotes from the days when they had to pretend to hate everyone.

relic 04-05-2011 20:33

Wayne tweeted the other day that he was off to Cardiff for rehearsals :)

My friend lives in Cardiff with her boyfriend, who works at an Apple store in Cardiff and says he met Nicky a day or two ago! Apparently the other two Manics come in there because they all have Macbooks now. I haven't laughed so hard in months as I just did imagining James and Nicky trying to use Macbooks. I told my friend that I expected her boyfriend to see them a lot more as they come into the store with tons of questions for the staff!

there's a pic floating about of James looking at a macbook screen with a puzzled look on his face :D I predict lots of *but they've always said they don't use computers!* posts for the next 3 pages :p

Well it's further proof that they are recording for the new album. Probably demoing separately and sending parts to each other maybe.

ISLWYN 24-02-2012 23:13

I've seen James a few times at the rugby and at a Radiohead gig. Many years ago he stood on my sisters foot in a shop, she hasn't washed it since.

starstruck 25-02-2012 05:29

Angry Birds is now on facebook and the band have all bought Macbooks. go figure.

How does that prove that in any way?

The Gutless Wonder 25-02-2012 08:59

Aye, can't imagine Sean would be pleased with James phoning him every 10 mins to ask how to work it!

franny 25-02-2012 12:39

I'm a little disappointed in Sean using Macs, hoped he'd be a firm mac-hater :P

haha yeah, I would've had him down for a PC person - but then again he's a gadget fiend and therefore likely to buy Apple stuff 'cause he can't resist the shiny.

I've seen James twice. Once was at the Renoir Cinema in London - he was sitting in front of me. And then there was the time that he was coming out of the front door of the building I was going into - pure fluke that my Spanish teacher lived in the same building as him! "Shut the door behind you" he said rather testily. His phone bill was on the table in the communal hall - resisted the temptation to put it in my pocket...

During my internet browsings the other day I spotted someone saying that James had stepped on someone's partners foot during a Rammstein gig!

My friend from uni said she saw James, wife and baby in Cafe Nero in Cardiff last week, she said they looked 'very cute' together :D

relic 01-03-2012 07:40

I heard that they considered Costa and Cafe Rouge, but he was holding out for a Nero.

We just want to know if she's called Nichola or not.

Not worth a thread on it's own (Uhhh, I'm really getting old) but I wonder if any of the band are Godparents to their kids? We would have heard about it by now. Probably.

Are they religious?, people don't usually bother nowadays.

Just out of general interest.

Not sure about you folks in the UK :D but in some countries there must be godparents of every child for certain practical reasons. Isn't the same there?

No, it's not. I'm curious, what countries are you referring to? What are the reasons in the countries where godparents are compulsory? Is there a mandatory religious element to this, or is 'godparent' used in the sense of an alternative guardian for the child should the parents not be able to care for it. What are the sanctions against people who refuse to have godparents for their children or against godparents who fail in their duties? I'm fascinated by this idea.
