All we make is entertainment sounds like Sum41
|
I removed my post cause it wasn't showing on the top 10 on the traditional Itunes site. :S

The opening sounds like a sum41 song, not the whole song ;).

last weeks #1 on the album chart, The Script, sold 70k. #2 was Linkin Park with 46k.
Manics should benefit from a drop this week and the biggest new release being Maroon 5. |
It's really just classic Manics' isn't it? Great melodies, epic, grandiose pop-rock. Apart from THB and Journal, isn't this what the Manics has always been about? At least since after GT, and even that had Motorcycle Emptiness. As a whole I think this album is just the Manics' doing what they're best at. Could've been a bit more innovative, and some of the songs seems a tad too lazy - but buttom line I think it's a fine album...
The title track is awesome and Some Kind Of Nothingness is just wonderful. |
PFAYM (minus The PFAYM Monster) is now £3.99 - bargain! (bin)

£16 in HMV but the deluxe edition is brilliant, almost as good as the JFPL one, got it on now and it sounds magnificent in proper quality, love it now.

£3.99 for a download? Jesus, that's cheap. Hopefully maybe a few people will download it then from Amazon. What's a normal price for an album download then?
If last weeks #1 made 70k in sales....then the Manics need a lot of luck to get near that. I reckon a #2 or #3 placing could be on the cards. |
Went to buy it from HMV and The Future Has Been Here 4 Ever was playing! Also All We Make Is Entertainment.

Why?

Unless its sold so badly they've personalised them...:P

I have to go with Midlands Junk and Beat Poet; I quite like the single and two or three other tracks but it's a huge disappointment to me. And I say that as someone that really likes Lifeblood and SATT that many others don't think much of.
Musically, it's interesting in places but the songwriting is nowhere near their best. The first half of the album sounds like they're trying to write as many chart hits as possible but without the spark of originalility that marks out a really great single. The second half has more typically Manics-sounding tracks but alas, aside from Billion Balconies, the songs barely rise above b-side quality. The press reviews I've seen have been good to excellent which really surprises me. I've played it about half a dozen times now and have no inclination to play it again. I say this as a genuine fan that really wants to praise them and not bury them. |
I pretty much agree with that, except I think the more manics tracks you describe are good enough album tracks. The first couple and the second half are good, the middle are just skippable.

On the single and when I've heard it on the radio Nicky's part was never too loud but on the album and on the video I just saw now on TV I've noticed I can hear him sing JUUUST the end of, whereas before all I heard lowly was "the end of". I still can't hear sing the word love, maybe he doesn't.
