Wow! The demo for Don't Be Evil reminded me of one of Milano's tunes! (That's Wimba's band for those who don't know.)

 when i put the cd in my mum picked up the book (i got the deluxe edition) and started reading through it looking at all the pictures/postcards liking Nickys doodling skills.
She wants to know if anyone knows where the sepia picture is taken of on the 'ridicule is nothing to be scared of' headed page??
She didn't seem too impressed by the music but i was playing it through my dvd player with the tv sound so that didn't help lol.

:p

So does this 'cassette' have like wheels or something ?

The Gutless Wonder 20-09-2010 20:39

If you like The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin you should get on quite well with this album.

Frozendiva 20-09-2010 20:40

Cassettes still actually exist?

Musically, it's interesting in places but the songwriting is nowhere near their best.

The first half of the album sounds like they're trying to write as many chart hits as possible but without the spark of originalility that marks out a really great single. The second half has more typically Manics-sounding tracks but alas, aside from Billion Balconies, the songs barely rise above b-side quality.

The press reviews I've seen have been good to excellent which really surprises me. I've played it about half a dozen times now and have no inclination to play it again.

I say this as a genuine fan that really wants to praise them and not bury them.

Yeah, good for you. Well said.

Cassettes have never existed, they're just a myth.

A myth invented by Gutless wonder for reasons we don't know.

Hi all

ok i`ve stayed away from all this as i`m anal and want to listen to a new album with it being all fresh , other than it`s not war.

1, maybe 2 skippers for me. Hazelton Ave & Auto intox. Other than that i`m impressed.

I instantly love `Some kind of Nothingness`

Love it!

Frozendiva 20-09-2010 20:50

Gutless, I want to believe.

nocultureicons 20-09-2010 20:50

I distrust anyone who doesn't like Auto Intoxication.

The Gutless Wonder 20-09-2010 20:51

Yay! That is great to hear Qster!

Frozendiva 20-09-2010 20:52

Qster, the entire album will grow on you.
