I hope Adrian Chiles had a black armband on then!

It's just SATT Pt 2 & The Descent (Pages 1 & 2) is just about the same as the song SATT
No moving on musically, its pretty poor 3/10 |
Pitchfork gave it 7.5 / 10!
That's not too bad, i guess.. While I wouldn't say that Postcards From a Young Man is quite the late-career masterstroke Journal For Plague Lovers was, it is still a product of a re-energized band. Whether or not it actually garners them the hits and mass audience they're aiming for (and at least in Britain, it seems inconceivable that it won't), they've managed to make an inviting, populist album that deserves the attention. It's maybe not quite heavy metal Tamla Motown, but it is Manic Street Preachers, and here, that's enough. |
metacritic score to go up!

I think the production on it is pretty good, actually. Way better that TIMT (another guitar/strings album) as it actually sounds like a band playing in a room with a choir and orchestra as opposed to all the slick layering of TIMT which left me wondering if anybody playing on the album had actually recorded on the same continent as anybody else. I don't always have great faith in our Dave, but I think the boy done good on this one!

A lifetime of viewerless blogs/Radiohead forums awaits their humble return. Wait, did Pitchfork just say It's Not War is 'easy to enjoy'? What a bunch of fucking morons! |

I've been listening to this for a few days now and it's pretty good I guess. Although it does sound like a poor man's SATT.
