Learnt via Simon Price this week that The Convalescent by Gwen John is a painting featuring a “girl in the long blue dress” - well that was a long story arc!

Did MSP ever explicitly explain what The Convalescent was about? Is there a track by track by them available?

I can only recall one, which I haven't put up on MSPpedia yet so here it is

Brilliant, thanks for that. Is there a way they could be collected together for each album?

Never thought of SWSS as a potential Beautiful South/Housemartins song but I see it now

Always saw it as a lyrical sequel (of sorts) to My Little Empire . Wire sat in his house 'happy being sad' describing the people from the collage on his wall.

Yes I imagined Wire himself was the titular Convalescent.
Recovering at home indulging in art sport etc.
One of my favourite tracks from KYE.

So there was a 3-song art medley on KYE (His Last Painting, My Guernica, The Convalescent) and we didn’t know

Plus The Secret He Had Missed and stuff from Futurology, Interiors, La Tristessa Duera, that's a compilation album of Manics songs inspired by painters.
Let alone a setist!
I should stop suggesting things that will never happen and raise hopes to be dashed.

Plus Which way to Kyffin (it counts OK)

I was going to repeat what glyn and wannagetout have already said, i remember nicky talking about constructing the lyric around his wall collage when convalescing. Dosed up on paracetamol after spraining his back picking up the telephone or something.

TUVL era is over, welcome to the KYE20 era https://www.nme.com/news/music/manic...miWKs4hLQbJUWM

Hmmm the two-album split thing. Interesting. Would rather they left it alone and just told us what they planned for each.

Sounds like the best we can hope for is a few live plays of LRS and YOP etc.

Lifeblood 2024 next then. :)

Hey, everyone. Nicky’s back!

IntlDebris 09-09-2021 13:51

Again, no problem with them splitting it as long as the original version remains on sale like it did with SATT and TIMT. Actually quite excited to hear how it would sound.

Glad to see Nicky's at least entertaining the possibility of a Lifeblood reissue.

Routine Builder 09-09-2021 14:19

Question, is Door to the River an unreleased track from KYE or was it specifically recorded for FD?

IntlDebris 09-09-2021 14:21

It was a KYE track. Be nice to have it on here, especially if TBTGOG ends up on a Lifeblood special edition, it'd make Forever Delayed redundant finally.
