Bloody hell, I'd just assumed it would be three or four songs, most probably the hits.
Fuck, I should have gone. |
Yeah, it was a surpassingly curio-laden and long set considering they were throwing tickets at anyone and everyone who happened to be at a trade show.
Easily on par with the Rough Trade GT and Renfrew Ferry sets! |
Sounds like it was a cool set! Glad those who went had a great time! :D

Awesome, so now we can blame Nicky for boring regular setlists ;).

Except for the ubiquitous Kevin Carter ;)

Kevin Carter was different, it was all fingerpicked and arpeggiated.

That was brilliant. Better than Rough Trade GT i think. Quite the comedian mr bradfield :) He said running out of fantasy was the first time live but it's not.. I'm pretty sure he played a bit of it at the manchester Ritz last year. Didn't someone request it? Maybe he just means played in full
|
Yes and Faster were actually swapped around in th setlist. I'm betting he just played the wrong one rather than making any sort of artistic decision :p
This was AMAZING. Such an incredible performance, and such a good setlist. MORE OF THIS PLEASE. Thrilled to hear 'rarities' from RTF and Futurology. And some of the vocal and guitar arrangements were really interesting. Seriously. Kevin Carter has never sounded so good. James was also extremely lovely afterwards. I think he was hoping to slip out the backdoor and get straight in the car, but when he saw a few of us were waiting at the gate he walked over to say hello and chat a bit, and was brilliant. Though I think he was a bit embarrassed to sign his solo album, which he should not be because it's fantastic. That story he told about Kendon Hill had me thinking he was going to do 'Victory and Defeat on Kendon Hill', which would've been out of left field, to say the least. And still no Lifeblood. Silly James. |

Brilliant set and a lovely way to introduce the bestie to Manics stuff in general. James still has one of the best voices of his generation, and his guitar work is sublime. He's still a funny little fuck as well, which is awesome!
Hello to everyone we saw there. Sorry we weren't a bit more chatty, but we're both incredibly socially awkward... Our getup wasn't because we're all intensely intense; more that we like dressing like dicks for pleasure  |
I'm still a bit stunned by that whistling!
|
It was a bit of a shame James didn't do a Q&A - Nile's was really good.
