Has he sorted that hair out yet?

onqpr 30-01-2009 18:22

I was listening to everything must go, twas really trippy!! Lol, I think I made an arse of myself!! I was in Waitrose in Monmouth kind of wobbled over and was like, er, are you nicky?? and started blabbering on about how I was a massive fan bla bla bla (the leopard coat, manic millenium top and manic badges might have given that away) and he shook my hand :-D wow, and just chatted for a bit, said the recording's going well, they've 2 more songs to do and the album'll probably be out in may, he was really nice and said he had to go because Sean was waiting in the car, luckily I refrained myself enough not to then scour the car park for him, that may have appeared a litlle too scary.
Yeah, he was really nice, yay!! despite some weird obsessive accosting him whike shopping!!

*breathes* ooh, I'm so excited.

The Gutless Wonder 30-01-2009 18:42

Sean driving him around - bless! Lucky thing you! To meet a Manic!

Lucky you! Although I think I would just keel over on the spot if I saw a member of The Manics, even from a distance :S
Also, I chuckled when I thought about Sean driving Nicky around

mebbe we should send Sean a chauffeur's hat for his next birthday

onqpr 30-01-2009 19:33

lol, I thought of it as funny, then I thought of it as like you know when mothers say about leaving their children in the car and they can't be long because they'll get bored or something and had to try desperately hard to just not laugh at the thought of a grumpy teenage sean having a strop at Nicky.

The Gutless Wonder 30-01-2009 22:09

I can actually picture Sean glaring darkly out of the windscreen, cursing Wire for taking so long! :D

I can picture Nicky painfully trying to fold his legs into a tiny car and adjusting the seat so he has the maximum amount of leg room!

Who needs another Alan Partridge series when you've got the comedy of that image?

Deets 30-01-2009 22:39

That day when manics were playing at positivus ab festival last year, I read in some kind of discussion on the internet that somebody had met James that day in Coffee nation in Riga. I think the person who had written it said she'd seen James buying a latte, and that she'd talked to him a bit. I don't know it it is true.. hmm, does anyone know if James drinks latte? if yes, then maybe it's possible.
Anyway, if I had met him there I think I'd be so shocked and happy that I'd just lose my ability to speak forever (not so bad variant after all)

The Gutless Wonder 22-02-2009 19:11

Curses! Thought someone was gonna say they had spotted James staggering around after his birthday party!

I'm not sure when James and I are likely to be in Latvia at the same time, but if it ever happens I'll keep my eyes peeled.

You're both just making fun of this country, which is so far away from anything related to manics, and of me who is also a sad fan getting excited even about getting to know such small facts as what kind of coffee they do or don't drink..., aren't, you?

We're not making fun of you and really you never do know. They might visit your lovely country one day. I always say to fans in other countries think positive, they did do Singapore etc so who knows?

They've already been to Latvia! The beautiful Positivus Festival on the Baltic Coast. Worlds most stunning festival location - FACT.

Wish they'd come to the US . Anybody know when the last time they played there was?

The Gutless Wonder 25-02-2009 08:10

I can't honestly remember. They did that Ballroom venue place in New York once but can't remember when that was.

NO! Well, maybe a little bit about the latte thing...

I loved Latvia, I really want to go back. But in the winter next time.

Agreed. :D I have never enjoyed any festival as much! It was so nice, I loved hanging out on the beach and the hammock zone was amazing. Latvia =

Also it was really funny when we left before the end of Tolerate cus we were so (pointlessly?) scared of missing the last festival bus, haha.

I still liked the fact it was just as Nicky was just coming down the front to do the shouty pointy (ish) bit when we all evacuated the front row. Possibly the funniest thing since missing the doors at Gwyl Macs and then all going on some crazy run to the barrier while the 50 or so people actually in the cattle shed just highly bemused.

Or when you me and Sam had the weird three person barrier fight over literally cms in an otherwise empty Wembley Arena in 2004 - we are so cool Hanna.

I believe I was one of the highly bemused that night. I only went to Gwyl Macs because because it was practically down the road from where I live and I was getting in free. Nicky Wire just scared and confused me so I went outside half way through when he was playing. I hate myself for doing that.

OK, I'm not so crazy but sometimes get a bit curious about unimportant things concerning manics..

Why in winter? I must say winters are not too adorable here, especially the last few years - just one or two weeks of frost and snow, and the rest is .. hmm, something like no-particular-season-at-all. well this year is an exception - the snow has been on the ground almost all the time since beginning of December and hasn't melted even by now.
But it's truly nice here in spring, summer and autumn

*Re-reads the newspaper cutting of that event*
Apparently, according to Carmarthen journal, it was up to Nicky Wire to 'save the day'
I'll leave that to those that were there to determine whether or not he did!
