I love how little trust us Manics fan have in the band.

Perhaps because the sound of a doo-wop Queen song as played by The Darkness doesn't appeal to fans of THB or JFPL? Or Lifeblood, TIMT, GATS or GT?

Fair. It does sound terrible.

I wouldn't say it sounds terrible. I'd say it sounds like it could be very positive. But that's more cos I love Queen and I didn't hate SATT as an album. I would still hope that the band have made an album they love, though, rather than an album they hope the public at large will love.

That said, even if they love it now, they'll hate it as soon as they're ready to release the next one. :P

To be fair, but for the odd blip, the Manics have always been about the big statement and chasing popular culture (anyone remember Sonic the Hedgehog?). So, I strongly suspect that when they make music which appeals to the masses they are also making music they love themselves!

To be fair, I've been dubious of this album since they've been talking about gospel choirs and sounding like Queen. I'm sure this will be up loads of Manics fans's streets, but my street is so far away from this street that it's not even a walking distance away.

...for the next three months, until their inevitable and seemingly irreversible backlash. Which is just as annoying, really.

I need something extremely uplifting after that football match so it all sounds good to me!

Don't include me in this. I love their other nine albums, and I'm gagging for this one.

Argh, what stance do I take, I like all Manics stuff so I should like this next album but 'piano hits', 'Queen', 'do-wop' and 'The Darkness' don't help. Come on guys, please let it be more than the sum of these supposed parts.

And I still put the Manics above every other band going. If that means I know nothing about music then I find that pretty easy to live with!

Yep, if that report is accurate I don't think I'd even want to listen to the album once.
