Thanks for this! Very interesting.

Going to guess that the "happy black days, here's the summer" interlude has moved from the end of "Epicentre" to the end of "Groundhog Days" on DTTR.

There is, signed LP with Signed 3CD is on there, which is the megatat bundle without T-shirt

I have a question (well, I have many of them, but let's stick to just this one): why only few songs are indicated as remixed if all the songs have been remixed for this release? Is it a "special remix"?

No no, that's the next album era.

Aaaanyway, I don't think it'll be the Brian Warner part. It adds up, but messing around with the edit in my DAW, I just can't envision how they'd do it without making a cut that's even more jarring than the Underdogs's infamous "th-" edit. The underlying arrangement and production can be fixed to make it sound reasonably natural, but the tonal shift in JDB's vocal can't really be studio'ed out.

I reckon the 26 seconds cut from that one is in the instrumental section at the end. It's 78s long, comprised of 3x 26s segments. The first contains the section's intro, third leads in to the section's outro, and the middle section is otherwise identical to the third. It's the middle segment which I reckon has been cut out, in an edit which should sound completely seamless.

These tracks were mixed by Tom Lord Alge (they guy who remixed the American Holy Bible, not to be confused with his brother Chris who mixed Send Away the Tigers). The obvious question is whether these are new (2021/2022) or from the period (2000/2001). They could have done these four as a test for the original recording and then went with Eringa when they weren't satisfied with results (similar to what happened with Visconti on Lifeblood).

Why are any of the songs trimmed at all? Mental. Plus I love that long outro at the end of Epicentre. Oh well. Hope they can focus their energy now on a new album for next year!

Is there?? Darn it ..nevermind ..as it's the crappy manics shop don't want to mess with the orders

Just listening to Masking Tape again, another one criminally left off the album. Ever since it clicked with me a few months ago, it's become one of my favourite Manics songs. Would have been a good way to use the Happy Black Days bit too on the reissue.

Flint 25-07-2022 21:31

Yeah I love the KYE b-sides (all of them) but the only one that I think should've really made the album is "Masking Tape", it's always felt like such a classic track and would've fit the first half of the album perfectly.

Yeah it’s a great song. I played it to death at the time but haven’t listened to it for probably 15 years so I’m looking forward to doing so when the reissue comes out.

Done, come on people

Dave Eringa has confirmed on a Facebook post that only the 22 songs which make up the two albums have been remixed. Everything else has only been remastered. He mentions them running out of time and how he really would’ve liked to have remixed “Pedestal”.

Ok, thank you.
What happened with Visconti on Lifeblood? I tend to think myself as a die hard fan (one of the few Italian ones, at least) but I did not know this...
