Niall Doherty described the the title as "Very funny"' and "Nicky Wire goes full on Michael Douglas in Falling Down".
Oh I was interested before. Now I'm really really really looking forward to it.

Met Nicky last night at the Rough Trade event in London.
I asked him if we'd get another single before the album is released and he said he "expects so" and I also reminded him that there was no tracklisting to which he said "oh yes, we've not done one yet, have we? I must remember to get that done". Lol!

Where’s this? Did it actually happen?

What does Nicky means there's no track listing? Surely the album's been sorted by now and getting ready to be made ready?

I asked him why there wasn't a full tracklisting online so I think he was referring to the lack of one when you search for it on streaming services or try to buy a copy from a retailer. A few people on here have got some track names but the first half of the album is still a mystery aside from the singles. He did sound genuinely surprised when I said it though.

Saw it on Forever Delayed Facebook post. Not got a link to the Tweet.
Actually I want them to string out the tracklisting announcement as long as they possibly can.
Very happy another single likely.

I assume that the track listing is known to the right people, just not to us

Kinda curious, why would anyone look forward to someone, going full on violent sociopathic, narcissistic, misogynistic domestic abuser?

It's been ages since I saw that film anyway.
Is anyone else suddenly listening to see what Allen Toussaint's music sounds like before we hear "Being Baptised" by the way? It's made me understand the quiet loud of Distant Colours!

Because it’s not real

Really? You made an entire post about how it amped up your interest and that's your answer?

As is slowly revealed as you watch he was a domestic abuser getting increasingly agitated that he was being blocked from terrorising his family.

I think we're possibly reading too much into what is a throwaway comment about a 30 year old movie. This is Nicky Wire, his version of Falling Down is leaving the hoovering to the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning.

Amped for the album. And also on me, I had no idea who Niall is. So they aren't a journalist then?
Ah... Right. Didn't mean to offend. If anything I like how it referenced there are more 90's movies than The Matrix for the referencing.
Yeah, now you mention it it's all coming back how that film ended.
Well at least Nicky hasn't gone that American X angle!

Tish 21-11-2024 19:05

I’m guessing he means it’s a furious rant about the irritations of modern life, probably with lots of swearing, rather than an apologia for domestic violence, which would seem a very unlikely road for the Manics to go down. Not every off hand pop culture reference has to be taken literally.

I'm also looking forward to it, sounds great.
