I remember posting a thread on FD in 2003 celebrating 10 years of being a fan. Somehow that feels weirder! I've been on FD for over two thirds of my Manics fan life :eek: |
the announcement has to be nigh. I'd say first monday of september. or last monday of august.
Perhaps we should all repeatedly tweet Sean about it until he gets fed up and lets it slip.... ;)
Last gig of the tour / festivals is Hyde Park on the 9th Sept. I reckon we’ll get an announcement around then.

NME article about the 20th anniversary of TIMTTMY here. No new news about any possible reissue/gigs though.

The biggest archive of unreleased stuff that he has?
Nothing quite like Wire in full tease mode. |
Would love to hear a prologue demo....
Maybe they'll announce it in a month or so and it'll be out in time for Christmas?
For how long that they been talking about that brilliant version of Tsunami? At least 15 years? Let's just hear it!! :D
I haven’t been this excited and waited for an announcement from the Manics in years. And it’s not even for a new release! So excited about everything this box could be.
So I was chatting online to someone who has been speaking to the band about all of this, and they just basically directed me to this bit of the NME interview, which makes me think no gigs but will be a re-release;
“It’s 20 years of ‘This Is My Truth’, so we might do something around that,” Wire told NME. “Only because we have so much stuff that’s never been heard. In my archive, that’s the one that takes up the most space. I don’t know about gigs, but there’s just so much stuff that no one has ever heard. It’s our biggest selling album.” “There’s a brilliant unreleased version of ‘Tsunami’. The original demo of ‘Tolerate’ is actually so crap, that it’s brilliant. To think that Rob Stringer came down and saw that one as a first single, then we’d go on to sale three and a half million albums around the world with a lyric like that. I still wonder how we did it.” |
Not too fussed around whether they do any gigs around the release or not. However, I'd be very interested in a re-release with remastered tracks and unreleased alternate versions of songs, demos, artwork, making of documentary and maybe some of the live performances from around that era etc.
