Don't be Evil sounds like it should be ace.

Mark 29-07-2010 17:53

That review makes it sound like the greatest album of all time.

FacelessSenseOfVoid 29-07-2010 17:53

I've always looked forward to the album ever since the single was aired on Monday but the mini previews of each song make me froth at the mouth and want to hear them........NOW!

Sounds like a great album from that. Nice one. The track Postcards From A Young Man sounded best to me :) I want this album now!!!! Can't wait until 20th Sep.

Excitement levels rising...rising...rising...

The Divine Comedy know(s?) how to put a banjo and strings to good use.

Seeing as they're bound to have ripped something off, I hope it's that.

Not keen on all the 'classic rock' references, other than The Jam I don't like any of the groups they've compared it to. Still, they're a Manics fan and they like it so there's hope yet.

Just read The Fly article. I cannot wait to hear this album.

ha! No disrespect to you at all, I've just been thinking the exact opposite. I'm worried that it will end up sounding immediately dated and/or like a weirdly specific, petty rant. However, I'm trying not to expect anything either way and am very willing to wait for the album to judge! :)

Any reviewer that says It's Not War is a great song, is disqualified from the universe.

Manic Fanatics know the score.

Abstract Unknown Girl 29-07-2010 20:30

Cowbells and banjo?! Ok well I wasn't expecting that

In keeping with not wanting to know much about the album before I hear it I just skipped to the summary of that Fly article. I did similar for JFPL too.

The single has become more appealing to me with a few extra listens on the past two days, and I just have a great feeling about the campaign at the moment, more so than for any album actually.

I'm expecting the album to be at the very good mark, same for the b-sides, the single artwork is getting great praise on here, the Twitter feed has been useful, there's a potentially decent video that they've conceptualised, and a potentially more varied setlist with songs being rehearsed that I've wanted to be played live again for ages. It's funny that there are things I've wanted them to do for a while are happening on this last mass shot album, and at a later stage in their career.

One would think a Manic Fanatic would, in fact, call it a great song. Being a fanatic for the band and all.

Could you try telling that to some Manics fans please! ;)
