Love the little spelling mistake for ‘Let The Light Return’ when you translate the Japanese to English. Very apt for now!

Any recommends as to where to pick up this edition please? (Shipping to the UK).

The different spellings of Stephen gave me the biggest laugh of this day and I've just been mobbed by visiting my sister and her dogs that were puppies when last saw them.
Even pushed against the wall from the force of a massive dog jumping up from a couch and spelling still funnier.
They're the band that keeps on giving and I'm glad my cooperation is being appreciated.

CDJapan.co.jp have always been excellent in my experience (though pricey), they have a few of the 1CD version left as I post… going off the Sony site it looks like both the 1CD and 2CD should have the bonus tracks on CD1.

https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/SICP-6614.

I would usually also recommend Amazon.co.jp, but they don’t seem to have the Japanese versions available to ship to the UK yet, they might do once the album is released(?)

Reminds me of these three great translations Google Translate provided on the Sony Japan site for TUVL a few years ago:

The Secret He Had Mist
Don't Let The Night Divide Ass
After-lending

This is the position I’m in now. I’m about to move house and looking at my possessions collected over decades and having to ask myself tough questions about whether they truly bring me joy. What purpose is that fifth copy of the vinyl serving?

What ‘day’ are we saving these things for? When’s it coming?

And could we be happier with less?

MSP could probably write a song about artist gaming the chart if they wanted to

Description
Manic Street Preachers to release 15th album!
Special Feature / Bonus Track: Japan only bonus track(s) (subject to change)

According to that on product description at cdjapan.co.jp website, I think bonus tracks for standard cd edition should be on it. Am I wrong or right in my thought?

Yes, the way I read it on both sony’s site and cdjapan’s site, the bonus tracks are basically tracks 13 and 14 of the main album CD, regardless of whether the standard or deluxe version (or ‘regular’ / ‘limited’).

There doesn't seem to be as much excitement and buildup for this new album as in previous years... guess it's just cos we're all older and they're not relevant or even sadly known in the public eye anymore.

Europa Gluten Free 23-01-2025 22:54

I think a lot of the excitement for TUVL was self-generated among us here and because of COVID. They don't seem to be doing as much this time. Jools about 3 months ago and that's it. No Absolute Radio sessions or other videos. A tour in 4 months time. I can feel them rejecting this album already. Any "we recorded this separately" album normally gets binned.

FacelessSenseOfVoid 23-01-2025 23:05

I'm excited. Aside from legacy reissues from my other favourite bands such as Queen and The Beatles, the Manics are the only band I still get excited about for brand new releases and will probably be the last band I feel like that about. I'd say I like all three songs they've released so far but the general fanbase doesn't seem to be overly up for it. Hopefully next week we'll see more media stuff like the Sunday Brunch appearance (which I had a feeling they would.do - either that or Titchmarsh's Sunday show...). Three singles and big gaps between them with very little promo hasn't helped.

The release date change has probably confused people too and they may have shifted radio appearances to the week of release. I'm still annoyed by the last minute change.

I'm probably in a minority in that I enjoyed both TUVL and RIF a lot, more so than Futurology but don't get me wrong, there are some absolute dog shit songs on both of those albums. But if the three songs we've heard so far are reflective of the album then I will be extremely happy - Brushstrokes of Reunion has a lot of potential judging by the trailer.

savemejebus 23-01-2025 23:33

Maybe they're aiming to build a more mature sense of anticipation rather than excitement the music of the three tracks released is sedate, carefully crafted pop leaving aor rather than bopping exciting music, so perhaps they want to set the mood so you can look forward to listening to the album over a nice cuppa rather than being excited about jumping around the room to it.

Tish 24-01-2025 00:16

Its been a very odd release schedule, first single released in August with very little publicity, then a second single released with a flurry of activity months later, then another three month wait for the album with a third single limped out with no publicity at all and a last minute reschedule of the album release date. There doesn't seem to be any logic in any of it.

IntlDebris 24-01-2025 01:19

Reminds me a bit of RiF, which was announced what felt like three years before the release date, and which seemed to be before the album was even finished. I think a bit of it is the fact that there's no concept or strong theme or musical direction behind the record - there's no manifesto for Nicky to push, there's probably less for them to be excited about. And it was completed almost a year ago, so the momento has probably gone for them as well.
