And then there's 1995 people like me who like SATT and KYE.
Still buying it. I don't listen to them (or anyone else for that matter) for sonic innovation, it's the fun FFS!
This record might rot my teeth through it's sugarness and could possibly damage the band's attempt to return to 1996 mass appeal?
But at least you can still give a shit about them?

People have different tastes. I like all the Manics albums, they're all different. Always find it odd when people go on and on saying "Go back to Holy Bible era" that was 16 years ago, they've done that, it was great, still is, but they've moved on. Oh and I love SATT lots, played it last night all the way through and enjoyed it heaps.

You sure you've hard the album? No way McCulloch "outshines" James. No way.

That was my first thought, I love Mac but...

Tidus 23-08-2010 17:19

...they should have picked someone who could at least "approach" JDB's vocals.

Daniel 23-08-2010 17:31

Give me passion over ability any day, any music fan should be able to make that distinction. Just because McCulloch isn't 'technically' as good as JDB it does not mean he didn't give a brilliant vocal. Thus it would be unfair to comment unless you've heard it, no?

Tidus 23-08-2010 17:32

You are quite right.

It's not about passion or ability, it's about personal preference. No-one said he didn't give a great vocal.

No, but to automatically assume that McCulloch couldn't 'outshine' James? As far as I'm concerned James has is amazing vocals, and his really mediocre vocals. Pretty much the same as any decent singer.

Personal preference, I prefer JDB to IM. I find it hard to believe I will prefer Mac's vocal to James. Simple as.

Daniel 23-08-2010 18:45

Fair game

Napoleon Bonaparte 23-08-2010 18:48

Makes it sound like I hate Mac, I REALLY don't.

Assume?
