Fuck sake, I'm at a wedding that day. Ah well, looking forward to reports of it already.

FacelessSenseOfVoid 09-07-2014 11:49

Just might go to this! Good thing it doesn't clash with the gig I'm organising the week before! :P

Same weekend that I see Kate Bush. Might have to make this a thing. Looks like you need a ticket for the event, but you then on the day need to get a ticket specifically for James' performance in the live area. Or am I reading that wrong?

Live Stage auditorium: Seating a maximum of 450 people, tickets for the Live Stage auditorium are available at the show only and are collected from the Acoustic Magazine stand. The tickets are first come first served, and will be available no more than 2 hours prior to each performance.

Due to fire regulations the venue has a finite capacity and every visitor must have a valid ticket therefore we are unable to offer concessionary rates and there is a no refund policy.

Organisers reserve the right to change the performance line up at any time. This does not affect any tickets purchased.
Sounds like some queuing will be involved

There won't be a lot of demand - I've been to those guitar shows, they're full of neckbeards waiting for Steve Vai to come on.

Where is the bit about queueing? The facebook post says you can buy tickets for the performance on their website but I can see where

Edit: ah I see, you buy a Sunday ticket from here http://www.londonacousticguitarshow....t/buy-tickets/ then cross your fingers and hang about on the day.

Won't be a lot of demand + Manics fans = does not compute.

Good job we're all professional hardened queuing experts :p

MSPKYE 09-07-2014 16:33

Asked their twitter and the James bit of the show is free you just have to queue for tickets at desk at the event and they go up 2 hours before, so just your £20 for this one

Bugger I'm in Spain for a wedding!

franny 09-07-2014 18:25

Sounds like a lot of hassle, James can do better than playing this sort of thing.

UEF 10-07-2014 07:40

I think there might be a part of James that quite likes the idea of this.

James is a very underrated acoustic guitarist - he's not a virtuoso per se, but his style is all his own - no one hits the guitar quite as hard or is rhythmic in quite the same way. He plays guitar like a drummer, and when you spend a bit of time listening to other guitarists then go back to James it really stands out.

I think James has been getting bored of the "White Les Paul and widdly solo" image for a few years now and is trying out other stuff. You can see this in other ways - more atmospheric sounds, playing the Fret King red guitar for half of the Rough Trade set - he's exploring new facets of his talent and headlining an acoustic guitar show may be right up his street in that regard.

Would like to go, but it'll be full of the worst kind of muso prat.

FacelessSenseOfVoid 10-07-2014 09:02

Who cares? We're there for James not the bloody guitar crowd :P

Bathtub 10-07-2014 09:10

I'm trying to find reasons to convince myself not to spend £25 on what could turn out to be a 5 song set featuring the usual suspects in the setlist.
