The band will play to Competiton winners only on behalf of Absolute Radio

centralscrutiniser 02-11-2010 18:10

Oh good, another competition only gig. This is bound to be greeted warmly...

_Bloo_ 02-11-2010 18:12

Embla Claymore 02-11-2010 18:13

Cancel sold out international gigs and play more exclusive gigs.

Mass communication FTW!!!

Mary Chain 02-11-2010 18:15

Wonder how many pages of complaining this thread will run to. Come oooon, I bet we can top 150 with some effort. :joey:

Lovely little venue!!! :D

lovesean4ever 02-11-2010 18:17

Rock Junkie 02-11-2010 18:20

Something came through on my newsfeed in facebook (from Absolute) earlier today that this was going to be announced tonight. Will be very nice and intimate :D

Dext37 Fielding 02-11-2010 18:21

Manic Street Preachers are to perform an exclusive show at London's Hard Rock Cafe on 30 November, as part of Absolute Radio's monthly live recorded sessions.

A rare chance to see the Welsh rock band in an intimate setting, they will play tracks from latest album 'Postcards From A Young Man,' as well as a selection from their back catalogue which includes 'A Design for Life' and 'Motorcycle Emptiness.'

The Hard Rock Presents Absolute Radio Sessions' show will be the Manics' first London gig since having to postpone two nights at the Brixton Academy on 28 and 29 October due to singer James Dean Bradfield having to rest after suffering acute laryngitis.

The recording from the night will be broadcast in full on Geoff Lloyd's Hometime Show at 7pm on 6 December, with additional video footage from the gig available to watch online.

Tickets to see the band perform in this exclusive setting can only be won, and fans can try their luck through competitions on Absolute Radio or by logging onto the station's website.

Also, although the band's recent Brixton Academy shows are rescheduled to take place at the end of January 2011, there is another new chance for fans to see them at the same venue before the end of the year.

The Manics have just been confirmed as headliners for this year's XFM's Winter Wonderland shows and will play at Brixton Academy on 15 December, tickets going on sale on Friday

centralscrutiniser 02-11-2010 18:22

Good news that it'll be on the radio anyway

centralscrutiniser 02-11-2010 18:27

There's nothing on the competitions page about it (http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/freebies/) and it's only just been announced so I assume it hasn't opened yet?

Mark 02-11-2010 18:28

hummingbird 02-11-2010 18:30

Still worth going on the night just for the Crap Mass Produced Buds and Burger N Chips, probably hear it through the walls, the Stage is tiny there!

Oh, it has. It's just that Nicky has used up all of the ticket allocation with places for his favourites.

Edit: Great minds, Sarah.

Abstract Unknown Girl 02-11-2010 18:44

It's funny that the only mentions of the whole guest list thing in this thread so far have been by people making digs at the people who moaned about it last time, who haven't actually said anything this time anyway

I'll enter, but really not fussed if I don't go. I've seen the Manics plenty of times recently, with three re-scheduled gigs to come. Frankly, I'd be almost relieved to be saved yet another trip to London tbh :p

It is linked with the bar cafe, but round the corner, 5 seconds away.

I still love what Keith Moon traded £15,000 in cash for on the wall in the bar there.

Dext37 Fielding 02-11-2010 18:51

Stage.

Blue Cat 02-11-2010 18:54

I would enter, but London's a shitter to get to at short notice.(for not wanting to pay loads, anyways.)
And I hate the Hard Rock Cafe.

Indeed. How many competition only gigs is it this year now?

MSPKYE 02-11-2010 19:01

I'll enter but if I don't go no biggie, as Laura said it'd save another trip to London. 6 gigs in the same city for one tour 3 of which have had limited accessibility, bit much?

And the whole guest list thing, well the only way it's gonna kick off is if the same lot of people as Hammersmith end up there again, and even then whats the point in getting angry about it all?

Blue Cat 02-11-2010 19:03

meh, it's free either way. Who cares about guestlists? seriously. Meh.

Loz 02-11-2010 19:06

I'm not entering because I will probably be working that day.
Also, they've just finished a huge tour so the majority of people who wanted to see them would have seen them then anyway, so I can't see why people would get annoyed over this.

hummingbird 02-11-2010 19:06

dear fate you know when i said i didnt really want to win hammersmith tickets.? Well i do now. You've not let me see the manics yet so let me win these please? thanks

FacelessSenseOfVoid 02-11-2010 19:07

FFS another one.

He's probably less likely to let you in if you put him in casualty

:D Because people get annoyed by EVERYTHING ever to do with the Manics EVER. There is no logic to it, is there?

I'm also not entering because of work and also general can't be bothered-ness.
