R*E*P*E*A*T's Manics inspired book
R*E*P*E*A*T, possibly the world's longest running MSP Fanzine, has just published its first book. Focussing particularly on the years before the internet made everything easily accesible, the book includes some rare Manic Street Preachers photos, interviews and other ephemera, as well as chronicling the other bands and causes that the fanzine turned record label has been involved with since 1994.
You can look at a sample of the 150 pages (over a third in full colour) and order copies here - £10 including postage. http://midline.net/repeatbook/ "The early Manic Street Preachers ignited an explosion of DIY culture among their following which expressed itself particularly vividly the form of fanzines, and nobody has done more to keep that flame of inspiration burning than R*E*P*E*A*T. The questioning, dissenting spirit crackles off the page." Simon Price, Music Journalist, author of 'Everything: A Book About the Manic Street Preachers' and curator of 'Stay Beautiful' Club |
is it available for overseas, do you accept paypal payment and if so what's the postage to Poland?

Mr Nicholas Wire
Thanks for your interest everyone.
Now here's a message from our sponsors: "The fact that we've got like 25 fanzines and 50 unofficial websites and all the rest of it, does give you a gratifying smile because those people aren't just dedicated to the band, they're dedicated to the whole lifestyle, the literary aspects, the film aspects, the whole package really. It's not just liking the music... I wouldn’t be chatting to you if I didn’t respect R*E*P*E*A*T... I admire anyone who’s hung in there that long and it’s nice that there’s still enthusiasm around!" Nicky Wire, Manic Street Preachers |
That looks brilliant Rosey, I've never seen a real-life fanzine and was never part of a proper fan scene back in the day so getting this might belatedly make up for the life I haven't led.:)

Is there a way to buy it other than this paypal thingy?
|
I'm going to order myself a copy now.
|
Looks wicked. Just ordered a copy.
For the first time in a while I remembered I do not actually need a paypal account to buy stuff and also knew I would have enough in my account. That is my luxury shopping for the year done. |
I've just placed my order, look forward to receiving it and having a good read.
|
Thanks
Thanks for your enthusiasm and orders everyone, I've run out of parcel tape packaging books up tonight! As you're all MSP fans I've included a very rare set of 4 early MSP postcards we put out, and some Manics inspired badges. More of this sort of stuff available on www.repeatfanzine.co.uk
AS for buying without Paypal, you can send £10 (cheques to R Rose please) to PO Box 438, Cambridge CB4 1FX. And as for missing out on fanzines, well where would Shampoo have been without them (you have to be a proper old fan to get that reference!)?! Rosey www.repeatfanzine.co.uk |
How about if I want one? I'm in the US. How much would it be?
|
 Me too! Definitely want a copy.
|
Shampoo - now there's a blast from the past! I get the reference.
|
This looks amazing. Just ordered a copy. :D

Hi Rosey, is this going to be available in bookshops at any point?
|
Received mine aswell. Came the same day as England's Dreaming and Tropic of Cancer but I opened this in more of a frenzy. Cheers for the postcards etc too. It really looks great.
|
Ordered.
|
Got mine on Saturday.
Great stuff and some inspired rants. It was strange seeing such a different view point of my first Manics gig at the Royal Albert Hall. |

Mine arrived today & about to read it now. It looks amazing, thanks Rosey! |
thanks
Honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as England's Dreaming. And interesting the views on the review of the Albert Hall gig. I'm afraid it's not likely to get in bookshops though; it took us nearly a year to compile and lay out and so on, so I didn't have time to seek out a publisher; also they'd have to charge a lot more for it as they'd want to make a profit as would the shop etc. So, unless someone offers me a deal I can't resist, I think I'm going to continue to rely on the underground network.
Which so far is doing me proud; thanks everyone for your orders from around the world (Can't believe it only took 4 days for 2 copies to arrive in Australia!), going to try to catch up with posting some more tonight! Rosey www.repeatfanzine.co.uk |
Book reprinted
Hi again
Just had the book reprinted - thanks all for your support that lead it to sell out its original print tun so quickly. It's available here http://www.repeatfanzine.co.uk/Rants/book%20press.htm in limited quantities and would make a great (anti) Christmas present, IMO! Roseyxx |
