Different track order for THB?

I just stumbled across this promo postcard on Ebay which I never saw before. It's a THB advert which uses a completely different track order and sometimes even song titles are not the same that are featured on the album.

See for yourselves:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ostcard_94.jpg

Tracklist according to this postcard:

01. Yes
02. The Intense Humming Of Evil
03. Walking Abortions
04. She Is Suffering
05. 4 ST 7LBS
06. Die In The Summertime
07. Mausoleum
08. Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayit'scountrywoul dfallapart
09. P.C.P.
10. Revol
11. Faster
12. Archives Of Pain
13. This Is Yesterday

The postcard refers to the original catalogue numbers, 477421 1-4-2, 1 being the LP release no one ever seen, 4 the MC and 2 the CD release.

It's really interesting because none of the advance tapes I'm aware of used this running order, all of them has the same that we all know from the released album.

Any opinions? IMHO This track order is really challenging, TIHOE as a second track, TIY as album closer, I wonder on what production stage they provided this tracklisting to Sony...

Mr Richey 19-07-2011 15:26

That's a cool find, mate. Think I'll try listening to the album in that order. I can totally see how "This Is Yesterday" would work very well as an album closer.

franny 19-07-2011 15:32

This Is Yesterday should definitely have closed but with TIHOE before. Interesting.

Nooooo, PCP after TIHOE is perfect in the way that the album slowly drags you down into that slow, haunting track and then throws you straight back up again with PCP. Leaves you wanting more. Putting TIY at the end instead would leave you on a low, not with the odd urge to listen to the whole thing again...

I'm not overkeen on the sound of that order, but I'll try it. You never know...

2004567 19-07-2011 15:42

TIHOE after Yes? That's rubbish. Love how fast the album starts off.

Agreed. If it were me I'd start with Faster.

2004567 19-07-2011 16:36

That would be pretty ace, though they got the tracklisting right in my opinion.

Scarecrow 19-07-2011 16:42

I remember hearing about a few alternative tracklistings for THB a while back. I think it's perfect the way it is though.

nocultureicons 19-07-2011 16:43

That's really cool! Did you buy the postcard or just use the image from the listing?

2004567 19-07-2011 16:51

The postcard is still for sale on eBay, just saw it.

Hennus 19-07-2011 20:26

How weird. I'll also try to listen to it in that order. I'll try.

Mr Richey 19-07-2011 21:06

Right, going to listen to this alternative order now. Will report back in a bit.

Mr Richey 19-07-2011 21:50

You know what? I quite like it! Gives the album a different atmosphere, sure, but also adds extra dimension to it. I'd certainly recommend everybody gives it a go.

Grant 19-07-2011 21:54

Having PCP in the middle of the album is just wrong.

Wrong I tell ye!

Which are these? I love this kind of alt-tracklisting stuff.

Does the person who won this realise it is just a postcard? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISA...:B:WNA:GB:1123

whilst all of you are concentrating on the tracklist, us typography wierdo's are far more concerned at the lack of the backwards "R"s on that there postcard.

deadmartyr 29-07-2011 17:13

Nice to see the apostrophe error is still in Ifwhiteamerica.

Think I will give this tracklist a shot in the....later hours of the morning(!). Personally, I quite like the idea of TIY as an ender. And 'Yes' followed by 'TIHoE' seems quite appealing... :)

How coherent is this for a drunkard?!?

I think I'll try this too! White America as an opener, PCP in the middle, Humming as a closer - now THAT sounds good!

Yeah, I thought so too ;-D
The sound bite at the start of Ifwhiteamerica... is great as an album intro
(as is the start of the music), and TIHOE really is the perfect closer.

Rulo55 10-08-2011 04:10

didin't like the alternate tracklisting...

Nobody 10-08-2011 18:36

Anyone think that the order the lyrics are printed in albums booklet may be another alternative tracklist?

Also speaking of of the album, what ejit has at gracenotes has made Ifwhiteamerica... come up as If White America... (without the extra apostrophe) when you put the CD into itunes?

Mr.Selfdestruct 10-08-2011 19:11

No need to mess with the bands classic. It's perfect the way it is.

What order are they printed in? I've only got it digitally so I can't find out readily...Usually booklets have the lyrics in track order so that's very curious.

This is really good. Would even work nicely as a vinyl (starting the 2nd side with Archives...).
