*Collapses in futility

Well played! And isn't that the same guitar James was pictured in a shop earlier this month/last month?
So happy that new instrument (manufactured late 2010's) looks to be involved in the progress
Excitement back! Never went away but yes!
New Manics stuff being explicitly revealed it's actually new Manics stuff!
Not putting any hopes on what it sounds like. This is good enough!
New Manics stuff on the way!!

UEF 22-03-2023 20:09

So to put that through the Nicky filter, there are no new songs and if there were, there wouldn't be any guitar on them

relic 22-03-2023 20:55

I'm ridiculously excited now.

Routine Builder 22-03-2023 22:50

No more news until January 2024 then.

Son of Stopped 23-03-2023 14:15

Timespan guesswork!
Mastering in another studio in America probably through April. Not sure if that ingredient for CDs is still running out or been replenished? I want to say first single near end of May with a Summer release before their festival slots.
Events and unforseen stuff pops up! I don't know how the process works.
Expecting November to be at a gig and familiar with the new stuff.
This is leaving outside the rest of the world events of course. But what better F.U. to Putin than the Manics both touring and new album from them?
I'm not expecting any reversed R's. But then they don't need to do that now.
Any more pessimistic guesses on their calendar this year?

UEF 23-03-2023 14:48

I asked ChatGPT

Quote:

Imagine a concept for a new Manic Street Preachers album, a blend of the albums Lifeblood and Journal for Plague Lovers but better. Give a track listing and describe each track, its lyrical themes and instrumentation
Quote:

The new Manic Street Preachers album is titled "Resilience in Fragility" and is a blend of the introspective and reflective qualities of "Lifeblood" with the raw energy and punk rock sensibility of "Journal for Plague Lovers". The album is an exploration of the human condition, the beauty and the pain of existence, and the struggle to find meaning in a world that can often feel chaotic and uncertain.

Track listing:

"Fragile Resilience" - The opening track sets the tone for the album with a haunting piano melody and James Dean Bradfield's soaring vocals. The lyrics explore the concept of resilience in the face of adversity, acknowledging the fragility of life while celebrating the human capacity to endure.
"Echoes of Yesterday" - A driving guitar riff propels this track forward as Nicky Wire's lyrics grapple with the weight of regret and the memories that haunt us long after they've passed.
"Bleeding Out the Lies" - A stripped-down punk rock anthem with an infectious chorus and lyrics that call out the hypocrisy and deceit of those in power.
"Invisible Scars" - A somber ballad with a minimalist instrumentation that showcases Bradfield's emotional range. The lyrics touch on the psychological wounds that can linger long after physical scars have healed.
"Rising From the Ashes" - An anthemic rock track with a soaring chorus that celebrates the human capacity for renewal and rebirth. The lyrics are a call to action, urging listeners to embrace change and seize the opportunities that come with it.
"Living in the Shadows" - A moody, atmospheric track with haunting synths and a hypnotic beat. The lyrics explore the darkness that can lurk within us all and the struggle to find light in the midst of it.
"Tangled in the Web" - A frenzied punk rock track with blistering guitar riffs and Nicky Wire's biting lyrics about the traps of modern technology and social media.
"Fading Memories" - A melancholic ballad with a lush string arrangement that builds to a powerful crescendo. The lyrics touch on the bittersweet nature of nostalgia and the pain of letting go.
"Rebuilding the World" - An optimistic rock track with a driving beat and soaring guitar solos. The lyrics encourage listeners to take an active role in shaping the world around them and to never give up on the possibility of change.
"Elegy for a Lost Generation" - The closing track is a haunting, introspective ballad that reflects on the passing of time and the loss of loved ones. The lyrics are a poignant tribute to those who have come before us and a reminder of the preciousness of life.
Overall, "Resilience in Fragility" is an album that combines the raw energy and punk rock spirit of the Manic Street Preachers' early work with the introspection and maturity of their later albums. The result is a powerful and poignant exploration of the human experience that will resonate with listeners of all ages and backgrounds.
Not to forget the Japanese release:

Quote:

Alright, let's get down and dirty. If the Manic Street Preachers were to release a bonus track called 'Rimbaud's Minge', I imagine the lyrical theme would be about the French poet Arthur Rimbaud and his legendary sexual exploits. The song would likely be raunchy and provocative, with explicit descriptions of sexual acts and anatomy. The instrumentation could feature heavy guitar riffs and pounding drums, with a fast tempo that matches the intensity of the lyrics. The song would undoubtedly push the boundaries of good taste and offend many listeners, but for those who enjoy crude and vulgar content, it would be a real treat. Of course, this is all hypothetical, as I cannot confirm whether the Manic Street Preachers would ever release such a song. But one can always dream, can't they?

Vancouver 23-03-2023 17:47

Rimbaud's Minge simply has to happen.

With the success that Suede are having with a late career punk album and the renewed friendship between the bands (not just the tour, there's been presents and all sorts sent between them since) is it possible that we're going to see a return to full on rock for the next album?

As long as they put a lyric booklet in! That's what's holding me back on getting into Autofiction. Great sounds but I can't make out a word that's being sung.
It's really not the best decade to have hearing troubles!

You have a great point here!! There's ground for such an album. My dream for a Manics back to the roots new album might become real!!

I was listening to 'Send Away The Tigers' the other day and I'd love for the new record to have songs similar to 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' and 'I'm Just A Patsy'. I also get that recreating or emulating that sound may not come off too well, it's just that I love that version, particularly of the Manics later era.

wireobsessed 18-04-2023 17:11

Just so happy to have some
News and then the gig date released today. Still the only band to make me feel this happy.

OH GOD PLEASE NO! We've already had PFAYM, some of RTF, and RIF sounding EXACTLY like that. Booooring Manics-by-numbers-one-last-shot-at-mass-communication crap. I'd rather be surprised like I was surprised by KYE, LB, or the part of RTF that's not festive chart-topping-wannabe bullshit.

Son of Stopped 21-04-2023 10:10

Yet Complicated Illusions is still fantastic and I'd have been happier if that had been the lead single.
I'm not predicting anything about whatever they've done. Just happy new stuff coming.
At least they'll have put some thought into than just knocking out songs to fill a quota.
I'm incredibly interested in whatever they've recorded. It'll sound like what it does.
Could have everything we want, gives us nothing or echo previous songs. Or all of it.
Probably get the book version of it than HMV first day.
Didn't feel the need to mention but may as well point out I'm down for what the band do next.
You know I said not predicting anything? Typing this out I thought of wanting more guitar solos.
Sobered by thought next album could be their last... I reckon they've got a handful more optimism!
New Manics album 15. I'd happily take a double with thoughtless on fumes weaker material! But whatever we get or sounds like? Not on me at the moment.
And not negating anyone who thinks they should quit. I think they don't have to, of course.

Son of Stopped 21-04-2023 20:14

No idea James was on 6 Music
https://youtu.be/3cjBqpX1Sic

FD: Hahaha, you deaf bugger! It's previously released music!

Right, just my hearings funny, which songs are they again?

Europa Gluten Free 23-04-2023 21:49

I can see this being a straight guitar album.

On the one hand, I can see it being a Resistance is Futile type of collection of songs (but hopefully much much better).

On the other, I can see it being a melancholic Wire album after his family stuff.

Son of Stopped 17-05-2023 13:05

Another Instagram picture I can't share. It's of Nicky's white Aerodyne bass.
Not a Gear4Music edition. Quite pricey. Nicky's caught the high end bug from James!
And taunting us with "New songs" text.

ForeverDelayed.com 17-05-2023 23:02

I’m so excited about what’s next. 25 years being a fan. Still same feeling.

UEF 18-05-2023 11:27

Saw a fellow classic rock act, Sum 41 (now Aged 43), are hanging up their long straps after this next tour.

I'm so very grateful that one thing that links me directly to my school days is still going. In a world where so much has moved on.

Was TUVL released in Japan?
Plus again, where's the Channel 4 documentary filming crew when you need it?
At least Suede can be called Suede there.
Obviously they've played Japan before. Still would have made a good little film.
Well have fun whoever reads this that can make it to these shows

UEF 19-05-2023 17:56

Or the much better song - I Miss The Tokyo Skyline

Damn I miss that place. The song was playing through my head all day.

LA ex 20-05-2023 17:09

Well they did bring Born to End (with it's Japan related lyrics) back a few years ago specially for the Japanese audiences!

Son of Stopped 20-05-2023 21:35

"radio on- Typewriter clicking- everything is ok no one is listening "
And a smiling sunglasses Nicky garden pic on Instagram.
I'm up for it if those are new lyrics.

tomd2103 24-05-2023 16:38

Can’t say I’ve always been a fan, but the new Blur song I heard on the radio the other day is really good. Sounds really fresh and vibrant. Really want to hear some new Manics stuff now along the same sort of vein.

Hoping the KYE reissue has given them some ideas and we get something along those lines.

Didn't want to jinx it. But I've been wondering if they were making a double album?
They probably aren't. So that's closed.
I'd be ok with an album of just good songs. Although James had to shame Nicky on TV into co-writing something with him!
A collection of songs with no concept would NOT be an indifferent listen if they're as good a song as claimed. And no reason to doubt given TUVL was just getting warmed up.
The Clash had a huge single written by the drummer. There you go again! Bringing the outside world in. You do you, hon!
I had to repeat from six minutes in when he mentioned "internal dialogue" as my own "Internal dialogue" kept on arguing with itself so I missed a few sentences needed to follow the conversation.
That's at least why you'll never see me on the couch asking questions

Nope! Those were lyrics for his solo album.
Critical Thinking/Bias Enforcement my riff on the title of the proposed next August album.
