Glastonbury 2019?

Let's look at the MSP schedule for June 2019

15/06/2019 Dublin RDS Stadium Ireland
16/06/2019 Dublin RDS Stadium Ireland
19/06/2019 Liverpool Anfield Stadium England
21/06/2019 London Wembley Stadium England
23/06/2019 Coventry Ricoh Arena England
29/06/2019 Cardiff Castle Wales

Glastonbury is on 28-30 June.

This means MSP could easily cross the Severn and do the 28th or 30th.

Suicide Aldi 26-11-2018 10:02

Unless they have acess to a TARDIS, I seriously doubt this will happen.

sculptureofabloke 26-11-2018 10:41

Cautiously optimistic that they'll be there. Suspect it'll be more likely to be the Friday than the Sunday, finish with the Cardiff Castle gig. Shame to miss it, but I'll be at Glastonbury.. Can't see em playing Be Natural and SYMM while supporting Bon Jovi, hope they do summat special, they usually do...

1999 - first PCP since Holy Bible tour
2003 - only Everything Will Be ever
2007 - Imperial Bodybags was one of the lesser played SATT tracks / Nina Persson guest
2014 - 5th PCP of the century / Nina Hoss guest
2018 - ?

Lol, almost tempted to leave it.

Finally

Anaconda Vice 03-03-2020 14:26

Guarantee you NONE of those songs will be played if they are doing Glastonbury this year.

They do this all the time. Every sodding tour. Tease songs they haven't done on tour in years, and the actual sets are safe as heck.

Nicky singing "No Feelings" was great on the RIF tour though, wouldn't say no to that.

LA ex 03-03-2020 16:22

I wonder what the reaction would be if they did an entire set of cover at the various shows they've got planned for the summer.

Europa Gluten Free 03-03-2020 17:09

Remember that is a song list rather than a set list.

Indeed. It excludes songs which are already well known as being “possible”

Is the Park stage the second stage, or have they been demoted past that?

It's something in addition to the second 'Other' stage, way over on the other end of the site (and up a hill :D) to ease congestion

Whilst Other and Park are 'under' Pyramid in terms of prominence, I'd say they're roughly equal with each other and Park is considered more 'Indie'

This is hopefully a good thing for us, as it means something other than the old 'play it safe with 10 songs' setlist they'd usually do at Glastonbury. I've seen Radiohead play up there without playing a single hit!

IntlDebris 16-03-2020 13:57

Honestly be really surprised if the festival happens this year.

Dogmanstar 17-03-2020 20:08

Surely Paul Macartney will be in isolation!

UEF 18-03-2020 11:06

Festival rescheduled to 2021 due to Coronavirus infecting absolutely everything.

MSP may or may not play I guess dependant on schedules (or even if we're over it by then)

UEF 21-01-2021 14:04

2022 perhaps now...

UEF 04-03-2022 12:33

The Avalanches are playing 2022, So Why So Sad collab?

chieftan mews 05-03-2022 20:27

Not on the new poster, huh? Thats disappointing, but assuming they were still going to headline the Park it alleviates some clash stress.

That's only the very early "throw the punters a bone" poster - plenty of time for MSP to appear on the lineup yet. There are 100 stages over 3 days to announce.

Yep! Could also be a part of their Latitude contract. Really seems like we have The Park headliners on that poster already, though. Caribou, Phoebe Bridgers, Avalanches.

If I miss phoebe I'll cry.

UEF 30-05-2022 10:25

Foiled for another year. What have they got on in late June?

No live dates between the 12th of June and 24th of July according to the official website.

Looks like a convenient gap for a Know Your Enemy tour...

If so then this would be a good sacrifice. Bit odd for them to not play a big festival they were basically nailed on to play though. They better not be sat on their bums for this

centralscrutiniser 30-05-2022 17:33

They were supposed to headline the Park weren't they? Do you think maybe they lost that slot and didn't fancy what they were offered instead? Seems a bit far fetched to think Glastonbury would do that.

Or maybe they've decided they want to hold onto that month break because they're going to announce the KYE anniversary tour for October!

I had no idea they were chalked in for Glasto but even the Park stage seems really low down for them.

Surely it’s too late now to book any gigs in for that gap in June / July so yeah, hopefully some KYE promo and small gigs then with a tour later this year. Fingers crossed!

The last time I saw them there, it was early evening on Other. The trajectory wasn’t good…

Son of Stopped 30-05-2022 17:39

More time to do a mix on new material? Or not. See how it goes.

Yeah I don’t expect them to headline Glasto again but they’re surely better than the Park stage - always worthy of an evening slot on a larger one. Then again maybe I’m just an old bastard who doesn’t recognise newer bands. :D

Dunno, interesting few months ahead then hopefully. Be nice if they can organise a number of small KYE gigs (as a three-piece, please) and get that Borderline cover released now we know they’ve recorded it. That’s all I ask.

Even the original KYE gigs had keyboards!

So... band are playing Isle of Wight in 2023. Could they do Glasto too?

Lee 03-03-2023 09:30

Ah of course they’ve been quiet over the last couple of months.

Confirmed for this year.

Marconi Delorian 03-03-2023 09:33

Low on the Pyramid or headline a smaller stage? They could headline John Peel, I think Suede did this last year?

Lee 03-03-2023 09:56

Would prefer them to headline a smaller stage tbh. They don’t suit the lower slots on the pyramid stage IMO.

Be nice to have some news on new material as well soon. :)

UEF 03-03-2023 10:03

Finally I can put this thread to bed

Routine Builder 03-03-2023 10:58

That line-up though, have festivals given up trying to attract the under 35's?

Son of Stopped 03-03-2023 16:17

Will this be their third or fourth appearance?

At least the sixth... off the top of my head the infamous Holy Bible show, headlining TIMTTMY, lipstick traces era rarities, SATT and Futurology era.

By my simple maths half of them will have involved a performance of PCP and a third a guest singer called Nina appearing.

Simpo 06-03-2023 00:33

Hi all, Manics were penciled in to headline the beautiful Park Stage in 2020, so I reckon that's what it's gonna be this year!
