Guess the setlist? Probably Tolerate and Design. Would love Dead Martyrs as much as you, but they'll be thinking of the "Not We's".
Orwellian squeezed in?
Good on 'em for doing it.

Hopefully without this line:
“So if I can shoot rabbits then I can shoot fascists”
(seems a bit inappropriate IMHO).

Shit! Completely forgot that part! Well I'm in the dark then.

Can't see many others from Futurology being dusted off! Guarantee nothing from THB either.

Routine Builder 22-03-2022 21:36

Well Hughesovka is a song inspired by a Welsh mining town in Ukraine, now called Donetsk, now a quote unquote independent Russian republic...

If ever there was a band to do a Queen Live Aid medley it's these!

*Found That Soul* 29-03-2022 14:38

Tolerate will get an outing tonight it seems - Can we hope for 1/2 more? Maybe design and motorcycle?

nozzer 29-03-2022 15:42

Given that there is 120 minutes for 8 acts, and the Manics seem to be first on the bill, my guess is Tolerate (live vocals only) and that will be our lot to be honest. I hope to be proved wrong though!

UEF 29-03-2022 16:52

First up? :(

Best news possible. Can get on with my evening then.

Would have expected them to get at least 10 minutes

Lee 29-03-2022 19:01

Snow Patrol first up

LA ex 29-03-2022 19:02

Snow Patrol up first... although they sound like they're performing fully live.

Lee 29-03-2022 19:04

Going to impact the number of songs then. Guessing two songs per act coming in at around an hour and an hour’s chat in between stage set up etc.

Lee 29-03-2022 19:04

Fuck me what a dreary band and a shite song.

LA ex 29-03-2022 19:05

I'd forgotten how Snow Patrol songs don't really go anywhere.... looks like they're only getting one

LA ex 29-03-2022 19:07

I'm still hoping the Manics are going to perform a one off version or Revol changing the lyrics to be about Putin... not expecting to get it though.

Lee 29-03-2022 19:11

:D

I’m half expecting a cover… dunno… the obvious three songs seem almost too obvious to play.

Tim 29-03-2022 19:12

The soundcheck as posted on the fdforum twitter has already given the game away and it was always the obvious choice.

*Found That Soul* 29-03-2022 19:22

8.40 for manics apparently

LA ex 29-03-2022 19:41

Looks like they'll be on after the break...

Lee 29-03-2022 19:47

The Starcaster bass is a beauty.

*Found That Soul* 29-03-2022 19:51

Why no live performance?

LA ex 29-03-2022 19:53

Shame they were singing over a backing track (I say that as the current live version - especially the outro has been honed to perfection) but that was a particular touching performance.

I kept one eye on Twitter throughout the performance, half expecting it to be full of people accusing them of being dinosaurs, etc. The general consensus was that they'd done brilliant with the most apt song possible.

Lee 29-03-2022 20:00

Yeah the backing track was a bit frustrating but maybe the live version would’ve been a bit much in its guise these days, especially the outro.

Agree it was a lovely performance though.

Dancing Kirby 29-03-2022 20:16

Ed Sheeran’s performance is why they didn’t play live. Sean messed with his guitar.

*Found That Soul* 29-03-2022 21:01

Straight in the iTunes chart at 36. Picked up a few sales

Son of Stopped 30-03-2022 10:25

My view is if it was on the BBC we'd have the full live sound. But ITV (and more importantly the advertisers using ITV) probably dictated more of what we heard.
Another reason to support the licence fee!
Do hope the song re-enters the charts as well.

hummingbird 30-03-2022 11:31

Always cool to see them on the telly box. I didn't tho...gave up after snow patrol :) Watched the YouTube clip instead.

UEF 30-03-2022 12:22

Didn't need a sound check for Live Aid, is all I'm saying

(they did have a rotating stage though)

What a weird attempt to shoehorn some pro-BBC bullshit into a thread about our boys playing a benefit gig for victims of the Russian war on Ukraine.

I'm on about how BBC usually have bands playing live while ITV clearly want the music more controlled. And I'm glad significant amounts got raised.

Is that what the BBC did with the benefit concert they organised for the Ukranians?

When was that? I'd only been aware of the ITV one.

Routine Builder 30-03-2022 19:42

UEF 30-03-2022 19:58

Agreed that the BBC would probably have delivered a better more authentic experience as music goes, but it’s not the focus of this event

Son of Stopped 30-03-2022 20:31

Well it was just a comment.
