Cooking, Cleaning and Flower Arranging - The JFPL Remixes LP

http://www.roughtrade.com/site/shop_...sku&sku=321789

Quote:
Release Date: 22/12/2009

there are no plans to release this record other than on this vinyl edition which is strictly limited to 300 copies - 200 of which are in our shops exclusively. 'cooking, cleaning and flower arranging' collects 14 remixes specially commissioned for manic street preachers highly acclaimed ninth album, 'journal for plague lovers'. when hand picking a list of inspirational remixers, the band asked that each producer did what they wanted with the album tracks. one remixer for each track on the record, covering styles as diverse a range of musical styles as they could hope to achieve. the resultant album acts as an inspired companion piece and a stand alone work in its own right. the remixers are: andrew weatherall, british sea power, four tet, patrick wolf, the pariahs, optimo (espacio), saint etienne, new young pony club, adem, errors, fuck buttons, jonathan krisp, the horrors, underworld. a few boring facts - first underworld remix in over a decade. 'journal..' is in albums of the year in sunday times, q, uncut, nme, the sun and drowned in sound. andrew weatherall djed on all of the original holy bible gigs at the astoria (the last gigs richey edwards played with the band). the manics recently covered a horrors song for a b-side. fuck buttons remix is utterly ace.
Merry Christmas, obsessive collectors and remix lovers

I would have a huge question to anyone from UK: who could help me buying this?

i've had 7" and 12" things delivered before, all arrived in one piece.

it looks like an ace collector's item, but alas my money at the moment is better spent on other things!

I've ordered a copy. I'll never play it, I'll never bother to sell it on eBay and I'm completely broke after my Xmas shopping. So if James, Nicky or Sean are reading, this kind of illogical handing over of cash is what gives me the right to moan and bitch about this band all the time, yes.

You could of course not bother to buy it. Buying such a useless article for nothing other than the sake of it isn't really a licence to complain in fairness.

Why didn't the Manics do this "exclusive" thing with Spillers instead of RoughTrade? Or is it only RT that have a pressing plant or the facilities to press vinyl? Shame Spillers didn't get a look in anyways.

I said to the lady that this was the first time i had bought anything Manics related here and she replied that they have done/are doing some special promotions with Manics, U2, Blur next year and some other bands who i had not heard of lol.

It's a good idea in theory to get people into the smaller shops but no doubt ebay and eil will be the overall winners in the end. They might as well have pull out all the stops and just put the £100 price tag on it anyway.
