Golden Jubilee Gig?
DIAMOND JUBILEE GIG - PLEASE CHANGE TITLE....
I know Nicky said 1 gig next year... Now this got me thinking, We get the 4th and 5th of June off for this next year, so a 4 day weekend... People will be off work looking for something to do... So the Manics should go all out, say fuck it, lets get people in, and have a day long gig, with bands like Suede, Delays, and any other bands that people would love to see and call it the anti-jubilee gig, have it at Hyde park or somewhere, and charge a Tenner a ticket. Thoughts? Last edited by y2kyle16; 05-07-2011 at 09:33. |

I reckon it'll be on the Saturday of that weekend at Cardiff CIA or Brixton Academy. And it'll be about £30? Not really sure.
P.S it's diamond jubilee not golden

Hyde Park or anywhere in London would be an absolutely biz idea on Jubilee weekend, London will be even more unbearably crowded than usual. Cardiff would be great, and would give anti-Jubilee Londoners a chance to escape the Royalist hype.

Yeah, my first thought was I hightly doubt it'd be in London (if it does in fact go ahead) due to the sheer amount of Jubilee related stuff that will be going on there. I know there's being antagonistic, but that would just be stupid

If they did do such a gig you'd just know that certain, apt for the day, rare album and b-side tracks wouldn't get a play, when they almost certainly should do.

Cardiff would be great seeing as I'm probably going to be at uni there by then But London would be a bad idea and I'm not that big on outdoor gigs anyway...

Cardiff would be good actually, I've never been and if we really do get a 4 day weekend I'd probably stay a couple of nights. Is Cardiff nice?

Nah, it'll be somewhere of reasonable but not enormous size and probably in Cardiff.
I think they should call it "The Welsh Republic" and have the Super Furries and Joy Formidable. That would be superb.

As if the wedding wasn't enough there is going to be a diamond Jubilee next year is there? Wonderful.
I'm booking a holiday this time, Manics gig or otherwise! Fucking Royals.

I kind of feel like siding with the Jubilee... What's good enough for Our Kate is good enough for me.

I'm sure they'll do summat but if they tried to do it on that scale they'd find themselves subbing to someone bigger.

They've not done anything for this sort of occasion yet, why would they now?
Stunts and this sort of hype has passed the band by a long time ago. I could see it if they had been away for upwards of 5 or 6 years like Blur or Pulp, but they've been around almost constantly and if the mass interest was still there then maybe. But it isn't.
