The Unreleased Song thread

I thought it might be a good idea to have a record of the tracks that have been mentioned (mostly on Twitter) but not yet released. So far my list runs;

A Perfect Place To Grow (2010, from the 'Postcards' making-of DVD)
The Great Misadventure (2010/11)
Running Out Of Fantasy (2010/11)
Unsaid/Unseen (2012)
The Sound Of Detachment (2012)
(The View From) Stow Hill (2012)

Any I've missed?

'Anniversary To No One' (1998) was reported to be an unreleased song for many years but turned out to be an unused lyric.

I hadn't heard of that before. How dark must it have been that James could work with The Holy Bible lyrics, but not with that?

Stockholm Alone!

I still don't know if that was real or a joke, not to say it couldn't be a great song, I just find it funny imagining a Bergman-esque european version of a film featuring Macaulay Culkin pondering existential matters when his family leave him alone one holiday. No, no-one ever told me it ruins a gag when you explain it, sorry.

There was a previous thread like this: http://www.foreverdelayed.org.uk/for...ad.php?t=39615
Interesting to read now some of the songs in there have surfaced.

So glad you posted Leeches Over Havana. I've spent the last half hour googling variations of 'Maggots Over Bangkok'

Wasn't there a 'Lifeblood' track called 'Walking Between The Raindrops' which they never released because it was a love song?

not heard of that, but it reminds me of the famous Iceberg Slim book Pimp. in that, one of his (erm) employees is complaining about the fact that it's raining and she doesn't want to walk the streets in it. his response was something like "walk beween the raindrops, b****".

if they turned that into a love song, that would be interesting.

on the note of Lifeblood, i wonder how the band version of Goodbye Suicide would have sounded?

and can we do a thread in conjunction with this called "released songs that should have remained unreleased"?

According to James they recorded "Hush, Little Baby" alongside "Dixie" and "Glory, Glory", but that's never seen a release as far as I'm aware.

"Jackboot Johnny" and "The Hairdresser's Chair" were both lyrics written by JDB but were never recorded, so I guess they don't count as being properly unreleased.

Ruins of Spring (or something like that) from the SATT sessions. Was supposed to go along with Indian Summer/Autumnsong/Winterlovers, but the band didn't find it strong enough to continue work on.

And, in a stretch, the "untitled instrumental" from the SATT era that was streamed on their website for a little bit has never surfaced properly. Which is a shame because 1) it's the best instrumental of the era and 2) its atmospheric sound begs for higher sound quality than that crappy webstream one.

it must be pretty fucking bad if it didn't meet the benchmark set by Autumnsong
