Hope everybody trying for tickets at 9.00am this morning got what they wanted. That website obviously wasn't geared up for the tenacious. I was in full on panic mode for half an hour. Finally checked out with H-Block seats by 9.30am.

Got a message from my mum back home in Yorkshire to say her and my dad are going... haha.
"Dad and I are having a nostalgia weekend and we are going to see the Manics , I have tickets , who hoo. We can relive all the songs we used to hear in our house" The songs in our house being me badly playing along to the band on my guitar... night after night after night.

Hey Tim, did you go to this one? I made the last minute decision of going on the day (thanks to my wife who decided to get me tickets after we missed a Badfinger gig the same afternoon)

Hey, Khizar! Yes, I was there with the missus. Very strange experience. Seemed like a jolly karaoke-evening where everybody was in a good mood, singing along with every song. No typical MSP atmosphere. James in a good mood, technically a very strong performance of the band. But I really really really want them to produce a new record and tour with that. They must not revert into their own cover band, if you know what I mean.

i had a fantastic time, met many ppl. i decided to completely skip the seats as people in front of me stood up, so i couldn't see shit. i moved to the front row on Wire's side and it was the best decision ever.
i was anxious about Nicky, as he was not in a good mood in Bristol and Bristol gig was lacking somethin tbh. and as Wire didn't show up in Madrid due to his family situation, i didn't know what to expect from llangollen however Nicky was there, and i have so so so much love and respect to him b/c he didn't have to and i just get emotional thinking what he has to go through. we all would understand if he decided not to show up and we'd have just James and Sean. but Nicky's such an incredible person, not only did he play the gig but showed up after the gig and signed up some things as well. as for the gig, same setlist as in bristol but the gig was better, i had more fun and im glad i decided to go. the crowd was weird, kinda lacking the regular front row'ers. more like 'i'm over 50, local, they're local, i have probably seen them 15yrs ago, let's buy beer and watch em again' kind of crowd, especially seating arrangements. Roll on Newcastle! you can find my videos here: Show me the wonder Kevin Carter and here's the setlist

I had kind of been dreading this gig a bit, with it being mostly seated (with standing right at the back) but thankfully everyone stood up as soon as the band came on and there was a fairly good atmosphere in the crowd. I know some people sneaked down the front but didn't feel comfortable doing that with security watching and didn't want to upset those with front row seats
Setlist not really any different to Bristol (although we got a snippet of Suicide Is Painless this time after someone requested it), but I wasn't expecting them to suddenly pull anything particularly surprising out the bag at a gig like this. The sound was a bit too loud though; I mean, I know I forgot my earplugs (big mistake!) but it still seemed exceptionally loud in any case. I'm glad Nicky made it to this one and he seemed happier than at Bristol. James kept singing the wrong words to various songs, particularly 30 Year War and This Sullen Welsh Heart Actually managed to get a setlist at the end too, hurrah! So all in all, not a bad gig at all for what it was. Only took a couple of photos and they were crap, so won't bother sharing. Last edited by Abstract Unknown Girl; 11-07-2017 at 14:05. |
