What should the band's last live song be?

As much as we probably don't want to think about it eventually the band will at some point play their last live show.

If you were to choose the closing song of this set, what would it be?

Would it be one of the usual subjects (A Design For Life, Tolerate, You Love Us, Motown Junk) or something else?

I quite like the idea of maybe Cardiff Afterlife or Futurology.

I'd they're playing stuff thought they'd never play again. . I'd love No Surface All Feeling to close.

I went through a period in the early 2000s when every time I saw them live I was convinced it was the last time they'd tour and then when they played A Design for Life I couldn't imagine them finishing in a better way.

I'm not convinced they would split (unless of ill health or worse) and that they've found their happy balance of live commitments and enjoying what other things they fill their lives with.

I don’t see a ‘split’ any time - they’ve come to far for that - but a retirement will come along one day. I don’t see them touring in their 80s.

Last song? Part of me really hopes they’ll do something ludicrous and contrary like Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel or Glasnost. But realistically it’s going to be one of four songs: Design for Life, Motown Junk, You Love Us or Suicide Alley.

Think You Love Us should be their set closer anyway. It just jars a bit for me when it is alongside their later material.

I think it should be Motown Junk, it's the song that paved the way for their entire career and has been criminally underplayed for the last 10 years.

If I recall correctly, Nicky some time ago (when I started being a fan - 17 years ago, and it seems like yesterday) told that Motown Junk had to be played at every gig, because it was the song that made them what they are. "If we won't play it, we won't be the Manics anymore", or something like that.
Yet, they skipped it...

They play "You Love Us" at almost every gig now, don't remember many times when they haven't.

If a song title beings with the letters You, stands a good chance of becoming a permanent fixture.
