Third breakpoint for the Manics - no new album for 2 years
So, James said in an interview that the band will not release a new album in the next 2 years, because they need to give the audience a break, and "to stand back and look what everything means again". He calls it the third breakpoint (first after richeys dissapearance, second after Lifeblood) of the band ...
No Greatest Hits, and no 70 songs ... Now I'll enjoy Pinkpop 1000%, as it seems we won't be seeing them again for some period. Enjoy the break lads, and come back with a GREAT album. In the Manics we thrust

They've earned a break, and they need the space to come back with something solid, consistent and original for them.

Yeah, if it helps them then I'm certainly in favour of it. Nicky is a better lyricist when he has more time.

Two years??? Ah well, have a nice break lads but I give James a month before he's back in the studio again! He's already done that remix so wonder what other plans he has up his sleeve? After a 10th album that has been pretty successful and got a big thumbs up from the media they deserve a bit of a break. Look forward to the next solo album James!

To be fair, these days it's pretty good going to average an album every two years. I'll look forward to it anyway.
Weird that he's considering post-Lifeblood to pre-Send Away The Tigers a break. Squeezed in the Past, Present And Future tour, God Save The Manics EP, The Great Western and probably about 20 gigs all in all for that? If he considers that a break he really must be a workaholic! Maybe get another solo album, then. |

I'm kinda happy with this break in that last time, the Tigers period was extremely exciting for me cos I literally got so immersed in other music I forgot how much I love the Manics. Also, it'll give me time to save. |

It'll be good to have chance to save up, too. Definitely. Oh yeah, changed me mind, can you text us the Pinkpop set on Saturday? Ta. |

Only because I have free weekend texts. If there are no surprises, I won't bother.

Ha, I love how nothing splits the forum like the prospect of another Nicky Wire solo album. |

That's why I mentioned the possibility of solo albums, Manic Street Preachers took a break but James Dean Bradfield didn't. Still, the gap between gigs for the end of Past, Present And Future and the XFM one isn't that much more than the gap between Millenium and Cuba or Lipstick Traces and Lifeblood.

got mixed feelings about this, quite happy there's no greatest hits 2, but 2 years is a long time!
roll on the Sean Moore solo album.

A follow up to The Great Western would be fabulous! Make it so!

I know that it's the right move, and if they feel like they're doing the right thing, then they should go with it, but...I was really hoping for a 70songs/GH tour...I still haven't see them
