New Album Will Be Mostly Acoustic
http://www.nme.com/news/manic-street-preachers/70379
"We've virtually finished the first, which is acoustic. There's only one song with electric guitar on the album, but it's not bongos round the campfire. The acoustic album has a soul vibe, with Rolling Stones-style horns. The first single is very positive, but there are darker moments too." |

This is either going to be brilliant or terrible.

I hope it'll be good. I enjoy songs like 1404 and Morning Comrades in their own way, but I wouldn't want a whole album of them.
Agreed, they're putting all their eggs in one basket which will either pay off omlette style or result in a yolky catastrophe.

They failed miserably with their self-proclaimed natural successor to Appetite For Destruction. Now maybe they're back with MSP Lies. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8y1L8bv7ImM |

An album of "Morning Comrades" sounds horrendous!

Agreed 100%. This is actually making me quite nervous which is completely insane since it's only a bloody Manics album and I have plenty of them already if I don't like the new one. Not to mention the fact I'm supposed to be trying to find a holiday I can actually afford online and not faffing about reading about this!
However, the "aggressive and experimental" second one, BRING IT ON I NEED THIS NOW.

It's hardly going to be just James with an acoustic guitar. James has said the band are driving the music so I can imagine the album to sound something akin to "Port Of Morrow" by The Shins - not much electric guitar but stunning arrangements.

I think its going to be a great album personally. If its anything like the quieter moments from Truth, Journal and the acoustic moments from the SATT/Postcards, then I'm sold.

Maybe it'll be another Nebraska. Or even Nick Drake

Hoping for at least one Nicky vocal on this album. I think acoustic songs are his forte - the demo version of 'She Bathed Herself In A Bath Of Bleach' is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Haters to the left, etc

I prefer Nicky's acoustic version to the final album version by a mile
