the end

Manics fans suffer from great loyalty and blindness.
To examine that: do you think they should end now?
I think they should have done it after Journal, that would have been nice, but it would also be nice now - at the latest

and do you think they will end? or will they ever stop?

Can we have an option "They should stop recording if they insist on doing it with loads of useless guests, but they can continue touring"? I'm more and more inclined to vote for that.

haha, true, but too late, I think you can rely on them not stopping that if they continue though.

I like the majority of the guest vocals they've had (granted some work better than others), but it would be nice to have a record of just JDB singing again.

But at least James hasn't hired a third guitarist to do his stuff as his arms can't play as well as they used to. Right, Keith Richards? (You skull faced chimpanzee!)

It's up to them, really. There's decent arguments on either the 'yes' or 'no' side, yes because ending on this would be a nice high to end at, and no because if they still have the passion for it then really who can tell them that they should stop?

(in all honesty, I voted no. Why on earth would I still come hear to moan out of disappointed love anyway? )

No, I think they've got some years left in them and the last couple of records have been rather good and it seems like they enjoyed making them and promoting them. Even though they're not perfect records, I think there's enough to admire about RTF and F that proves they've still got some good ideas knocking about creatively. If they'd made another 2 PFAYMs then it'd be different.

I'd like to see another album or two. Also, whatever they may say, I cannot believe that a prolific writer like Richey did not leave behind more than they had to use on JFPL, so I wouldn't rule out a JFPL part 2.

I don't think they should go on forever though, but I don't think any band should. They've all got families and the longer they continue the bigger the gaps are going to get between albums, and the touring is going to become more sporadic. If they did just keep going until one of them keels over, I'd at least like them to do so, whilst still recording new music, rather than become like one of these aged rock bands who are constantly touring a slightly re-arranged greatest hits every few years.

No, and if I stopped liking them I wouldn't begin wishing that they would end, because other people still enjoy them. At the end of the day it's up to them.

Really the only poll that matters is this:

Should old fans who now hate what the band do go and find other bands to love?

No - it's their choice if they want to appear on a forum bitching about stuff they can't change.

Yes - there are other bands to hate when they do something that is different

They are sad little individuals with no real voice so use the Internet to troll and flame.

Of all the members of this forum, I can't think of anyone who spends more time flaming than you.

I hardly call having an opinion as opposed to constant sarcasm and youtube clips showcasing where the manics have borrowed stuff cconstitutes flaming.

I think no because they're making great songs and albums that are different each time. They're amazing to see live and if they stopped it would go against their working ethic. I love how they've evolved, how they highly regard Richey and still play their early songs. I hope they continue forever
