Smile Sleepflower

Hi all, can anyone shed any light on why the band dislike/don't play this song anymore? Was recently watching the no manifesto dvd and there was a few mentions on it there but I couldn't find an explanation! Maybe someone could let me know what I've missed? Thanks

People used to shout for it as a joke in the mid 2000s, and they ended up playing it in 2007. They still do play it sometimes, on quite a few dates of the Postcards Tour and the Rewind The Film Tour.

Thank goodness for that, I've been shouting 'SLEEPFLOWER THREAD!' at my computer display for about ten years.

It turned out that, when they did eventually play it, it sounded pretty dull. I saw it on the SATT first tour, wasn't impressed.

Roses aside, I have little desire to hear anything from GATS played live again.

^ It was more of a joke I think to begin with, then it happened unexpectedly.

Well by unexpected you mean the band saying in 2005 they'll play it in 2007!

I think it is very popular among some fans, and eventually the whole 'people shouting requests from the front row' thing became a running joke. For several tours, they would laugh it off, tease the intro, call the crowd cheeky buggers and silly stuff like that. Have to say I was delighted to hear it live on the Tigers, Postcards and Rewind the Film tours.

Yeah, James called me a demented bloke for shouting out Revol during the Lifeblood tour. Got the entire audience to chant revol at them and even that failed to get more than an offtune opening bar...happy days.

Now it's a pain to try and get them to play the better tracks of their new albums....

When they blasted it out on the SATT tour on the Leeds date it was the best thing ever for me right there and then, I loved it and jumping to it. It rocks.

Bloody love Sleepflower, kinda surprised that people are indifferent or even disliking of it. Thought it worked brilliantly as an opener for the first bit of the Postcards tour.

Suppose for the tongue in cheek chanters it's less of a gob full than Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayitsworldwouldfa llapart
