Record Store Day HB Picture Disk
So, we've seen mention of a Holy Bible picture disc that's going to be released as an exclusive on Record Store Day. There's nothing to say if it's going to be UK or US (or both),
How does this work, in general? I'm not a big vinyl collector, so know nothing about the Record Store Day thing, other than it makes things very difficult to buy! Any info on it would be appreciated - cheers!

Can't be bothered with Record Store Day. It's long since ceased being anything other than National Scalpers Day, and by all accounts so far this is a reissue of a shitty sounding piece of vinyl that won't end up being worth much (if anything) more than what you pay for it.
Now, if they'd have gone with finally releasing that Yes single instead... |

I should be able to get there, despite the hassle. If they're not limited to how many can be bought, I'll happily grab some for people.

Two reasons:
1. People queue overnight for Record Store Day at this shop. It's happened several times and I reckon it will happen again. 2. Any excuse for a Manics fan to queue. ![]() |

Take a look at eBay at 9:30 on April 18th and see how many hits you get for Record Store Day.

I've been dreading this day. Guess I'll have to book the day off and slum it on Oldham Street...

Yeah, that's why some queue overnight, to be eBay record touts as well as other fans. Just like ticket scrambles. I love the idea of Record Store Day but the aftermath is a bit ridiculous. Additionally, I missed a few because of shifts in previous jobs so I've only got one vinyl so far.

I had a bad experience with Record Store Day a couple of years ago. There was a White Stripes single and something else (can't even remember what now) I wanted. I realised it would be busy and I'd have to get there early and each shop only gets a limited quantity of each record and all that. I thought my local record shop (Flashbax, Crouch End) would be the best bet as it's small, a bit out of the way and wouldn't be too busy, not in central or Camden or somewhere music-y. I got there 10 minutes before it opened and could not believe the size of the queue. 60 people at least. I queued anyway just in case I was lucky. After 45 minutes queuing I got to the door of the shop and in the window there's a poster with a list of everything being released. The White Stripes single I was after was listed at £15. For a 7" single. So, even though I was skint at the time I thought, well I've queued this long now, I might as well get it. No chance. None left.
I like the idea of RSD but in reality it's an absolute carrot-dangling waste of your time. The scalpers only add to the infuriation. If I was in charge of one of the participating stores I would prepare questions on each band beforehand to ensure the records are going to genuine fans. Also I would have some type of system announcing to the queue when a certain record has sold out so that people aren't needlessly and epically wasting their time. Be prepared to wait and potentially be disappointed. |
