Best opening track part 1
Simple poll. Vote for the best opening tracks from the first 6 albums. Part 2 will follow.
My idea is that we vote for best opening track, best closing track, and a song from each album corisponding to track numbers on albums so eventually we have a sort of FD greatest hits. Have split the poll in two parts as the maximum number of poll options is 10 and there are now 12 albums, and having a poll with only 2 options seems a bit of a waste. |

Slash N Burn because it sets the feeling for the entire album and gets me fired up ready to shout along the words, especially the riff thingy.
Edit: I wanna go back and pick Elvis Impersonator. Starting EMG with it sort of (unintentionally, I think) adds to the mystery of Richey for me, and the fact there could be many reasons why he went, which you can interpret by listening to certain songs, i.e the whole overweight and out of date, "Fake royalty second hand sequin facade, limited face paint and dyed black quiff" possibly referring to feeling like a fake, not being able to play etc. The boys choosing it to open the album just gives me a sense of something weird I can't describe. Hahah I could go on for ages about this, but it's such a mysterious and beautifully composed track IMO.

t's the harp that does it for me. It's a great one, and though I like all of the other songs more, it is the best as an opening track.

Yes got my vote. Just love the way it kicks into gear in the chorus. And those lyrics!

Maybe Elvis Impersonator, this time. The sound of the sea at the very beginning and the smooth starting of the instruments that keep on with a guitar accompanied by James' shouting-singing followed by an anthemic kinda refrain... It pretty much describes the whole album right at the beginning.
Slash and Burn is a nice opening too, with that guitar at the very beginning, for a rock and rollish album such as Generation Terrorists is. However, I voted for a GT track already, so I picked one of the other ones that I love.

Sleepflower, though Yes was a very close second.
