Best of the later Manics album
My top latter day Manics tracks from KYE to present day era. Think I got something off every album.
Found that soul Freedom of speech A song for departure Love of Richard Nixon Send away the tigers Peeled apples Jackie Collins Marlon JD Some kind of nothingness This sullen welsh heart 30 year war The next jet to leave Moscow Hold me like a heaven |

Your Love Alone Is Not Enough Imperial Bodybags Journal For Plague Lovers Golden Platitudes 30 Year War Walk Me To The Bridge International Blue Would have included much more, was going to do single, album track and b-side but that took me over the 13 song limit. |

Honorable mentions: autumn song, this joke sport severed, journal for plague lovers, Golden platitudes (almost a classic, think maybe the production ruins it), Divine Youth, International Blue, Distant Colours, Song for the sadness.

Oh yeah Leviathan, good call. Also, Locust Valley from same era? Awesome guitar solo on that. Also, I used to love intravenous agnostic!

By 'later' albums, you mean an era spanning two thirds of their entire career?

I took it from start of this century. Up for decade by decade lists if anyone else is? But that might be thread hijack etc

It used to mean anything TIMT onwards, though now I'd imagine there would be another 'post-modern' period that is PFAYM onwards?

Quote:
Early - GT/GATS/THB/EMG/TIMTTMY Mid - KYE/LB/SATT/JFPL Late - PFAYM/RTF/F/RIF (Although I'd possibly argue TIMTTMY should go into the mid career section) |

Golden Platitudes
Auto-Intoxication (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love Rewind The Film 30 Year War This Sullen Welsh Heart Let's Go To War Misguided Missile Walk Me To The Bridge Together Strong (C'mon Wales) International Blue Hold Me Like A Heaven People Give In There you go! 13! And I love the comedy of "I don't need THIS!" going straight into the Rugby thing. |

I'd split it:
Richey era: GT/GATS/THB Commercial rise and fall (aka Farrow design era): EMG/TIMT/KYE/L 'Re-energised' / revisiting older sounds: SATT/JFPL/PFAYM New territories: RTF/F/RIF |

Agree on the first two eras, but consider SATT and all that followed to be one era rather than two. That said, there are very different albums within those different eras. For example, GT going into Theme from MASH and GATS fit quite well together, but then THB is completely different. Similar with EMG and TMIT, but then a very different sound in parts of KYE. SATT and PFAYM fit quite well together in terms of sound, but JFPL in between them is a different sounding record altogether.
