I had a bloke with a red beret stood next to me on my right. When James moved his mic to the front of the stage and to the left (which would be his right!) at the end of the gig he was right in front of me, Helen and Andrea/Valley_Girl. There were a couple of lovely, tiny Japanese or Chinese ladies just in front of me and they were directly on the barrier. It seems so long ago now! Hope we don't have to wait too long for another one!

He gave out some packets of sweets, and gave me and Sam a bottle of water... Which we later had a water fight with ;D

We ended up fighting our way (fucking elbows and all...) straight into the queue next to ours and when I got in two lovely people (who I will love you forever ) were pushing the entire front row outwards to save me the tiniest bit of space. Luckily I think everyone who had queued for the barrier just about made it but the organisation was rubbish - one queue and one door would have saved a tonne of stress!
I didn't even know they hadn't opened a door! We were in the que to the right of you and I didn't notice it not get opened.

Can't say it was unnecessary though if you'd been there that long. What time did you get there?

Before any commuters did. Every night of the tour we worried about phantom groups of fans (who never actually appear...) who will obviously turn up in force the night before and take up the ENTIRE front row.

Of course (apart from the usual people) this never happens but we always expect them.

One day you'll develop nerves of steel like me and turn up at 8.30am.

We had queue fear in Dundee on James' tour and so turned up eight hours before the rest of the queue. *shame*

Were you wearing a sailor outfit at Glasgow? I wasn't sure whether it was you or not, right at the front of the queue?

No, not in Glasgow. I was wearing a blue RAF jacket and a blue beret. I was right at the front of the queue though.

Aww you should have! I'm not scary As I remember I spent most of the queue in Glasgow eating rolls and doing sudoko, so any entertainment is good...

But you know if you hadn't the phantom fans would have appeared! They'd have already been there for three days!

But the sensible people who turned up at doors didn't get to witness James getting sort of locked out of Fat Sams. That was worth the humiliation alone.
