I know, and then they carried on being listenable, and also bloody amazing, and then so was everything else they did part from a couple albums

Better late than never in commenting on the article:

I especially liked this part:

Quote:
"Yeah, well, it does a bit. You want the crowd just to be a liquid mass. The best thing about a gig is when people lose self-consciousness, and with a small crowd in a place that big it's just not gonna happen. But, having said that, when you've been in a band as long as we have, it's a bit like the end of Groundhog Day sometimes – anything different is good! When you get to 40 and something can still feel new and scary... that's pretty amazing. Also, from the people I spoke to afterwards, you know it really meant something to them. Sometimes these days, I think everything's so surface: 'Oh, I won't go to the gig, I'll catch them at a festival.' Or, 'I won't buy the record, I'll just download it.' To actually feel that greater level of commitment and connection we've felt here, it's good to know that exists. And, I mean, commercially, for us, this is the weakest territory in the world!"
I wonder how many "Well, you know, I mean"s they had to cut out?

I've long pondered and enjoyed this "liquid mass" experience at a concert. It's like a group euphoria, when the crowd's mood transcends one's own and one is caught up and carried away, losing self-consciousness and embarrassment in the process. I was delighted to feel that at the Toronto show and delighted to read that the band thought that, too!

I hope it also inspires them to come back again with the new album.

Now, if only they could get some radio play, or at least on another muzak track.

Fucking idiot journos bashing Lifeblood once again. I hope the new album title changes. I hope it isn't SATT-style commercial.

I really want them to switch from the "heavy" sound (SATT, JFPL) to the "soft" sound (like in TIMT or KYE). "Soft" but not "pop".

I don't mind. Heavy, soft, whatever. I'll be happy!

And in the "we Want Answers" article in this weeks NME Nicky talks about the stuff they are planning. They have "loads of ideas", "Golden Platitudes" is mentioned again and Nicky reveals James has written a tune (or a song) that sounds like "Maggie May"

James: Y'know, wake up Maggie, I've kinda of got something to say to you..

Maggie May: DO SLEEPFLOWER!

James has written an inevitably pedestrian version of Maggie May. That's one idea. I'll go and sit in the corner and cry.
