If they would play TIHOE if an amount of cash would arrive to their bank account, I'd be the first to pay!

Can't say I'm shocked by the comments in this thread. I guess I can see both sides of the argument. I'm not gonna deny my desire to see them pull out some real rarities or songs never played live before, or a Richey style setlist (i.e. three upbeat rockers followed by TIHOE). Hell, even simply just switching LTD for LBAL for just one tour would be welcomed.

I have my fingers crossed tightly for some variation from the norm on the tour, but I won't complain if they play all the predictable hits because I still love those songs and seeing them live. It's hella frustrating (not to mention backwards) coming on a forum of my favourite band and seeing people complaining about setlists, and yet continue to see them repeatedly.

Not at all! I was being serious. I love their version of Umbrella, and besides, Dancing Queen inspired Motorcycle Emptiness. I'd love to hear the Manics do it!

I'm imagining it as the intro to "Motown Junk"...

I don't necessarily want to see rarities as such, but just a set of different album tracks and even singles they don't normally do. Oh, and Lifeblood songs. TBTGOG was a top 5 hit, so was SWSS and Nixon was number 2! But the first two havent been played since 2002, and the other 2004! It wouldn't hurt do play other singles than the obvious ones, i maintain that it's laziness over anything.

If we're talking covers, how about Simply the Best?

I think the only time I would ever walk out of a Manics gig is if they played TLORN. I'd walk back in when they were done though

Fucking amazing song, as is most of Lifeblood. It's a shame their best work is the more daring stuff they don't like to play live because it might bore people. I mean come on, it's not like they're Coldplay!

SWSS and TLORN are worse than anything Coldplay have ever produced. And I don't say that lightly. Even worse for the fact they're from the band who produced Faster, ADFL and Ready For Drowning.

TLORN doesn't bore me. I find it ridiculous. It's like a joke song. First time I heard that opening plodding synth beat, I burst out laughing. The vocal melody is also one of the laziest I've ever heard from the Manics. I just find the song comical in every respect.

At least the rest of LB has self respect.

it'd be great if they mixed the set up more but i'm happy with the way things are..changing one or two songs and the banter ..definitely the banter makes things interesting. Plus James has said that he doesn't like it when the crowd just stands and listens so playing obscure songs are pretty unlikely. If he mostly wants to see people jumping up and down then he's going to want to play the songs everyone knows. I do think he should mix up the acoustic set....give the everlasting a rest at least!

oh i'd be thrilled if they kept autumnsong as second to last song so i can run to the loo!

Wouldn't call the vocal lazy at all, its a change from the usual vocal and really suits the song. It wouldn't have sounded right sung higher, that would've ruined it completely. Nobody slags off 'Love Torn Us Under' which is sung in a similar style (also a great song).
