Something similar to the Patrick Bateman introduction is my bet.

The thought I have in my mind now is for the song My Blackstar, a contractual obligation for James to write a song about his favourite amp on the new album, sounding something like:
Choir: "BLACKSTAR" James: "Blackstar" Choir: "BLACKSTAR" James: "My Blackstar!" Choir: "BLACKSTAR" James: "The amp I love" Choir: "BLACKSTAR" James: "The amp you love" Choir: "BLACKSTAR" James "You Love Amp" Choir: "YOU LOVE AMP" Nicky: "I could've really loved this ammmmp"

I've been hoping someone would edit that pic with the amp

I loved that Penderecki!!!!
Wire mentioned in his previous note for the website that they had been listening to some music by Stockhausen. It would be cool if they put a Stockhausen clip in (though, uh, that would really not fit with a gospel choir). I never thought the Manics would go for Stockhausen - thought he'd be too inaccessible to the masses for them - but now it strikes me that his taste for the completely ridiculous (i.e., the string quartet where everyone has their own helicopter) is probably right up Wire's alley.

Quite excited about duff playing bass on one of the tracks.
On the "last shot at mass communication" is it me or are we still stuck in a time where there is no Internet ? I don't understand this we need to make commercial sounding music to get our opinions into the public domain, it just sounds like really good excuse for covering up that they been told by sony to release commercial sounding music because the record label let them have Journal with no singles, this new album might just sound like a comprise that they thought that had to be made for Journal to be released like it was. "tell them what to do, and they do it like obedient slaves" I might be completely wrong, but i think it a good theory. |

I wonder if the album's opening line will be "Warm greetings from Goa!".

No, "one last shot at mass communication" means we've already had the last proper Manics album. |

I'm sure it's already been mentioned somewhere (but I'm not trawling through 39 pages to see if it has), but according to HMV we have a release date of 27th September.
