Not the same as having my original one though. And I don't have a million pounds.

I like having a physical collection, but it's all a bit snobbish really. Music is music, no matter what form it's in....

A lot of bands that I like tend to release on vinyl only now. 90% of the time it comes with a download code too which is a bonus if you want it on your iPod etc.

I think owning a CD is superb, I love my CD collection but the digital evolution is pretty much the way forward especially with loss less files being so readily available now. I don't think we'll be in a World without physical formats for ages as people still pay a lot for physical copies of albums but one day it'll probably die out...

As Takk said though, music is music, you have to judge it on how it sounds no matter what format you bought it in, no matter how good a cover/inlay is it doesn't make a toss of difference to the music it accompanies.

I don't know. I think it depends more on the band to be honest. I love the album art and the sleeve notes. I find it immensely more satisfying to listen to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway whilst reading the vinyl gatefold sleeve and looking at the pictures.

Of course you're right, and it should be able to stand up however you hear it, but I think we're a long way from abandoning physical formats.

I like to unwrap a CD or album (back in the day). Take out the lyric sheet, look at the artwork. Digital files are nice and easy, but I still make a back-up CD. If something happens to my computer, bye-bye tunes.

Live music is the best though. Whatever format you can get it in hearing it being performed live cannot be surpassed!

Oh I utterly agree, physical formats still sell far too much to be abandoned soon and I'm glad about it, I mean I said before digital is the way forward but I'm sure CDs (or a newer format perhaps) will still be around in a lesser role even when downloads have flooded the market.
