Dear me, one of the worst MSP gigs I've been to, in the venue of one of my best (JFPL back in 2009)

Not the bands fault, but far too many "general public" in the audience. There seemed to be a small hardcore a little way back from the front on Nicky's side (or folk who just fancied a good mosh) but otherwise it was very, very dry in there. Complete with scowls when you get bumped into.

This is why I don't like seeing them at Festivals and more 'public' events. XFM Winter Wonderland was the same (as was Blackwood sadly), yet Brixton this year was amazing.

Oh and Life Becoming a Landslide's new tempo almost feels like parody. Whose idea was that?

I agree, the crowd was mostly people who'd just heard Design For Life. Everyone I was stood near knew all the words to all the songs though so I was in the right place :')

they should never do a competition gig again. it's pointless. i hope they earned a lot of money, at least.

does anyone know what did Nicky say about his back?

Having read through the thread, let me fill in the blanks
  • Keyboards sounded fine in the room (pretty sure I would've heard this if there was something wrong)
  • Everlasting intro: "We played this in Istanbul last night and when it came to the chorus the audience shouted it back, so tonight..." - I felt like I was pretty much the only person singing it
  • On next year: "We weren't going to play next near, the whole year 100% off. Then we realised it's the fucking jubilee. We're being saturated by the royal family, so we'll play one gig. Just one gig! So you don't have to look at Prince Philip for an hour

As it stands, I wish I'd won tickets to Prince Philip

That when they did the JFPL gigs he was pissed and drugged up on tranquillisers because of his prolapse disc, I assume that's the bit you were talking about.

I had an amazing time, maybe it'd be different if I had other Manics gigs to compare it with but I don't my dad, who is not easily impressed said to me that he cannot tell me how impressed he was with them, especially James

Can I ask how many who went tonight got in without having ID?

I really wanna give my glasvegas tickets to my mates, but if they're not gonna get in I don't wanna waste them!

Hiya!

People without ID were being made to go and stand in the reserves queue. So yeah, you can't get in without ID. But there were loads of spare wristbands anyway, i didn't win tickets, just waited in the reseve queue. Got in and had a fab time with one of my friends. Bit sad that there were too many general public non-fans in the crowd but really enjoyed the gig itself.

James is usually impressive. Complete professional and kind and warm to boot. He seems to make everyone in the audience feel special. Maybe it's just the vibe he gives off. You're there to see him but you always get something back.
