I thought Ebay was going to start putting a cap on how much you can charge for tickets actually, I heard they were anyway. I wish they'd hurry up and instigate it.

Booked the hotel today - me and my friend are staying in the Etap at London City Airport. £46 for the night isn't bad at all, and it's really close so taxi fare shouldn't be too expensive.

I'm getting more excited about it now, all I have left to sort out is transport

Ebay could quite simply make ticket sales not allowed..i don't know why they don't. In the same way it would be relatively easy to police a law preventing re-selling of tickets outside venues.

If I'm not mistaken, touts are illegal on ebay, and they're not allowed to sell tickets.
I tried to report the auctions several times, but then I gave up, because they're still there.
Plus, egoistically, as long as people buy them...well, I'm not too keen on attending a show in a half-empty arena.

Because if you outlawed touting where do you draw the line? Every other product that people buy to sell on? Legally there's very little that seperates tickets on ebay with items sold on gumtree. You can't discriminate just cos it leads to some folks not getting 'barrier'

Surely you understand the difference between ticket touting (whether it's on eBay, Gumtree or whatever), and selling an old second hand car, furniture, household appliance etc.

Discrimination doesn't come into it.

What has it got to do with people not getting to the barrier?
It's got nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with the simple matter of real music fans being forced to pay over the odds by a bunch of morally bankrupt twats who make a living out of taking advantage of them and pit them against one another.
I know that's the purpose of a salesman, but they take the piss and ruin it for everyone.
I'm not saying outlaw touting, I just think it's more than reasonable to ask for a limit on the percentage profit they can make.

I'm definitely in favour of selling tickets on eBay, just not at a massively inflated price. What if you buy a ticket and genuinely can't make it? I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to sell it to someone else so that a) you make some money back and b) the person gets to attend.

eBay is sadly the best way now as the excellent ScarletMist has had to close.

Well yes, that's not the point I'm making.

How's about selling it on eBay for the face value price? Rather than seeing 'Buy it now' auctions at £60, £70 and even £149 per ticket as I saw earlier today.

Good grief. You know how touts operate right?

I thought people on this Forum would've been smart enough to pick up my point?!

They should get rid of tickets full stop. Make all attendance to everything by an eticket system. Better for everyone and cuts down on the opportunities for touting.

Some way of returning or swapping tickets within a reasonable time, I suppose. I thought it wasn't allowed to resell tickets anyway, doesn't it say that on them?

It was fucking freezing. That may or may not have also been where I queued for the NME Big Gig in 2008, I really can't remember.
So does that mean the main door que is actually inside or something?

Just booked my hotel at the Holiday Inn Express London - Greenwich and Getting really anxious about my ticket making it to my house in the U.S.

Yeah, it's all inside. The dome has other things in it as well as the arena itself...there's a cinema and restaurants/shops etc. So all the queuing is inside the dome.
