Saw one in the shops yesterday, had a look but the Manics feature on one page of the magazine and that includes a comment from James about how Brian Eno ruined Coldplay. At that point I just put down the magazine and walked away. I don't like Coldplay but Eno is a fucking genius and deserves to be recognised as such.

In my house, you do not slag off the bloke who produced three of the best Bowie albums ever.

Slagging off Eno's a bit uncalled for. He may have produced a lot of bombastic, po faced earnest shite of late (hello Bono and Martin) but it's so far outweighed by the good work he's done it's not even funny.

James did seem to be referring to his later stuff and the fact that he appears to dislike him as a person. I don't know the ins and outs of it all though! I was more upset about him bracketing Enya with Coldplay to be honest!

as i recall, Brian Eno is celebrated for having an absolutely massive porn library. perhaps James is jealous.

i would imagine Eno charges Bono many many $$$$$, turns up once a week and says "yeah, Edge, beautiful man", leaves and goes and invests the money in something he wants to be doing.

Could be! Though he seemed to take acception to Mr Eno walking along the street with a baguette for some reason!

That's probably the case.
Wonder if the "musical equivalent of Nick Clegg" comment is a reference to Eno advising the Lib Dems?

Didn't know that. That's probably what he was referring to then!
