It's region free. I thought everything in the UK was fine with NTSC these days. I say these days but it's more like the last 20 years!

if you've got an all zone dvd player then it'll be fine. I did have one but it broke. I could play it on my computer but i don't see why i should so i've emailed HMV. I'm not ordering anything from them again..i seem to be jinxed. Either i get things 2 weeks late or something's wrong with it...

The free poster from townsend surprised me. Its a red poster with the pic of the band in the middle of the deluxe book with a stuart maconie quote above. Was just expecting a poster of the album cover

Dunno what to say then because I haven't come across a TV that isn't compatible in ages. You shouldn't even have to mess with the settings.

Regions are not the same as video standards. Japan's DVD, for example, are both region 2 (like the UK) but NTSC (like America).

It's weird they've made it NTSC. Any modern UK TV will be fine with NTSC, but some older DVD players might need manually setting to that, so your other player probably has an option in its video settings.

yea its definitely a problem with the dvd player..just says NoPlay and then STOP on it's display screen with the message on the tv that it has the wrong settings. I've no idea where my instruction manual is to find out how to fix it..i've tried looking at the player menus on screen but can't see anything obvious.

wish i'd noticed all this before sending an email to hmv..whoops! i'm still blaming them..its the jinx. it is

thanks Dancing Kirby for trying to help too. I was a bit petulant earlier throwing a tantrum cos it wouldn't play

To be fair it's pretty weird that they've done an official UK release using NTSC video.

yea i've never noticed that with anything else before. We can add it to the idiocy that is the missing b-sides from the Box

incidently my dvd recorder is 3 years old. The sony player is much older and it plays on that so its odd. TV is 5 years old

both the Morrissey & Beady Eye DVDs from earlier this year were NTSC. a quick look through my collection suggests that this is standard for music "freebies" with CDs for some obscure reason.

don't really want to bog down this thread with more advice than given, but a quick google search on the make & model of your DVD player should reveal if it can play NTSC discs back in either "PAL" or (and this is not great) "Quasi-PAL", or what codes you need to type it. otherwise, on the DVD Player Menu (Settings, normally) and your TV, set output to "Auto" rather than either PAL or NTSC, let the hardware do the work.

btw, in the days of video, NTSC was called "Never The Same Colour" by us "video pirates"; it's something to do with the frames per second or something but NTSC always, always looks shit when compared to PAL.

thanks i'll give that a go

Edit: I ca switch between PAL and NTSC but theres no *auto* option..so in theory it'll work but i got a message saying *video settings will change are u sure* which scared me so i said *No* I'll try again tommorrow after i've safely recorded Something for the weekend in case everything goes wrong.

The video on the Faster and Empty Souls videos looks a bit shit. ES seems to have a low contrast and I've seen Faster look this bad, will have to compare.

On the plus side EMG and YSTS feature the original sound samples that weren't on the FD DVD.

Top is FD, Bottom NT

I got the CD/ DVD today in the post, my 2nd day back in England and I have new Manics things, yay!!! The booklet is nice, it's lovely to have all the videos together (OK so some people are saying the quality isn't the most cutting edge HD quality stuff but watching it is fine to me) and the new single has really grown on me a lot. Yay - oh, plus I got the CD single too as my mum ordered me this from HMV so I'm one happy fan.
