I think Nicky's trying to come up with amusing (at least to him) backing band names? Like "Nicky Wire and the Dying Breeds" and so on...at least that's what I'm getting out of it.

actually, it would. all I remember is him talking how pointless and boring AM are - even in the newest Q mag. I am hugely suprised. but with honesty I just think he has never listened to the AM records and he got the latest one by mistake and changed his mind.

Yes. finally. They're a brilliant band. saw them in Cardiff the other night and they were stunning. I never got how he could describe them as "cataclysmic boredom". A band like the Monkeys is not what he should be fighting against.
