It wasn't meant to be anything. It was meant to be a family album, a collection of images of things/places that the family has seen/visit thoughout the years, and it's exactly what it is.

mode fangirl on
If the book had had more Richey, you would have called Nicky a whore and the book disrespectful.

What family?

My living room is total art wank!

Having had a chance to have a proper look at it, I think it's a nice curio, but if it had been a photo book from any other band with similar content I wouldn't have bothered.

Would you pay to see anyone's photosnaps of trees and churches and other out of focus stuff for the past twenty years?

As for your fangirl mode, that's your perogative, not mine.

I take it as a fucking joke that a band who say they mean something, who were the only thing left to believe in, put out things that are, in your words, not meant to be anything. I now have a heavy pink brick of nothingness. Perhaps I can build a coffee table around it...

Anyone's photosnaps? No.
Nicky Wire's (or any other of my favourite artists) ones? Yes.
The target of the book was Manics fans, not art lovers.

Don't twist my words. My English may be poor, but my thought was clear.
I said that the book wasn't meant to be anything. Not that it was meant to be nothing. The difference lies in the fact that the book (and Nicky's intent) were totally unpretentious.
You should build a bypass around it, Nicky would be proud

You're obviously free to say that you don't like it, but calling it a ''crappy vanity project'' would mean, in my eyes, that you didn't get the book's purpose.

I didn't realise those things were exclusive. Going by here, the target was a specific kind of fan -- the kind with money but very little judgement. (No wonder they're flogging the thing for near a tenner on amazon.)

Not anything, but not nothing? That's a conundrum.

Going off to build a bypass in my living room.

Just rewatched this video again - a lovely hour of Nicky talking about the band in a warm, friendly , open setting. Watching this whilst flicking through the Polaroids book is helping to keep the 'high' from last week going...

So now you're insulting those who liked it because you feel like you've wasted your money and so you're frustrated?
You should call Nicky and ask for a refund

Allow me to say that ''I'm such a great photographer, look at all the amazing pics I can take with basically no effort!'', now this is what I'd call pretentious.

What were people expecting then? Its a beautiful book full of polaroids and not an expensive art project or a 100% detailed account of every second in the Manics life time. You don't have to like the book but why have a cheap dig at people who do like it?
