The EDL (mis)using Tolerate!
I heard reports of this yesterday, it just proves how ignorant they are!
"Simon Price: The EDL are, cretinously, using the @Manics' anti-fascist "If You Tolerate This" on a Youtube video. I trust legal measures are being taken." |

I assume this is the same thing I read about a week or so ago - what I heard at the time was that it was a video supporting the EDL, rather than a video made by them. Tommy Robinson did re-tweet a link to said video, so it was in some sense endorsed by him.

The same idiots used a Napalm Death track to promote their Birmingham rally. They're really not the most intelligent bunch of monkeys. As if 'Nazi Punks Fuck Off' didn't ring any alarm bells.

There's nothing in that article that specifically says they're taking legal action. I suspect they may not be.

Talked about this with a fellow Manics-fan friend. I was, of course, wondering "of all songs... seriously, EDL?!?" til she pointed out to me "remember, fascists tend not to be too smart."

How many times has this song been misused now? It'll become UK's Born in the USA eventually if this keeps happening.

My god racists are stupid. I can almost understand how the far right could confuse some songs about racism for racist songs.. Sometimes... The Cure's Killing An Arab, stuff like that. But christ, is it not abundantly obvious to anyone who's given a couple of minutes attention that If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next is not a racist song and Manic Street Preachers aren't racist? What the hell were they expecting?!

Agreed. all it says is that the label asked for it to be taken down. Taking legal action would just give the EDL publicity anyway.
