Let's Go To War

Good quality vid by Shug

So far I've managed to get down the first two verses and the chorus. Couldn't make out the rest so if anybody else wants to have a go, please feel free!

All the complications
All the deviations
All the holy edicts
All the broken subjects

Let's go to war
???????????????
Let's go to war
We need to get them back again

Working class skeletons
Lie scattered in museums
And all the false economies
Speak sweetly of your dreams

Let's go to war
???????????????
Let's go to war
We need to get them back again

I think in Shug's (kindly uploaded) video the line in the second verse sounds more like "speak falsely..." not 'sweetly', but I guess that could just have been a change or mistake in the performance since Nicky has tweeted the lyric.

I'm hearing the chorus's words as:

The ( / some) field champagne will nurse your ( / the) pain
We need to go to war again

For the third verse I'm hearing this much:

The ??????? *?are darkened?*
The knives are all now sharpened
The shutters will come down again
So don’t forget we love you still (don't forget we love you still...)

I'm not 100% on most of that though!

Great song though

Really like this song, not that all 3 tracks I've heard so far from the new record don't sound really good, but there's something "force to be reckoned with" (??) about this one. Really good.

I'm hearing a slight reflection/homage/? to (I want to say/or I call it) 'the sugar plum fairy' in the riff. Albeit just slightly ... It sounds awesome! Hopeful to get a second listen tonight at Brixton

That main riff is Tchaikovsky's Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy...

I really like it, the best one of three we've heard so far imo.

The main riff totally reminds me of Hall of the Mountain King, but I love it! Getting quite excited for the new album based on what we've heard so far.

Thanks for making a thread, I hadn't realised they'd played another one.

This is the only one of the three I really like so far. Something of the Ready For Drowning about it, via THB.

I don't think it's that great. Sounds like a SATT type album track to me, like I'm Just A Patsy or something to that ilk. A bit meh.

It's ok. I don't like the simplicity of the lyric structure. It would benefit from a big chorus and a solo.

Reminded me of Death Disco by PiL which references a classical piece (can't remember which one). Quite SATT sounding apart from that.

edit - it's Swan Lake

I like this one! Sounds like Holy Bible era Manics covering In the Hall of the Mountain King at the disco.
