My friends who gave up on them after The Holy Bible and despised them for Show Me The Wonder despise them even more for Walk Me To The Bridge. Their loss, etc but I do wish they'd release singles that aren't total radio friendly mass communication since they're more than capable of releasing more interesting songs (ie making Europa the actual single)

If someone despises them that's not just harsh it's ridiculous if it's for a reason like trying to sell records!
Is your friend another person who expects the Holy Bible again? It's one thing not liking a song but giving up on them because they've done a couple of tracks you don't like is a bit much! |

The band never can and never will repeat the holy bible. Some peoe really need to just accept that.

Moreover nowadays Nicky writes all the lyric and 1/4 music for a Manics album which makes him the most important songwriter of the band - unfortunately. On THB his participation was (happilly) minimal which is not the most important but still the key factor of it's such a great album. And would have been even better without that fucking IfWhiteAmerica

I'd never expect a new Holy Bible, but a new Know Your Enemy sounds quite possible. Simply for the experimental nature of it resulting in a musical and lyrical variety of songs.

Wire has written some outstanding lyrics and gave us Design For Life and Tolerate, whilst also writing some amazing stuff on KYE and Lifeblood.
As much as I think THB is the best album ever, I sometimes wish it was never talked about again. Robert DeNiro has made some utter tosh films but nobody gives him grief as an actor because his back catologue is so strong! Same should go for Manics. It's not as if THB is the only good thing they've done! Anyway Futurology is gonna be awesome and just the few songs we've heard have all been pretty good |

They wouldn't be the band they are if Wire wasn't there, he's pretty bloody vital.
I wonder what's up with some of the negativity on here? |

It's not that different to other places I've been, but those other places have much more reason to than here!

I agree 100%, so we would probably have one good album instead of three very bad ones

Interesting that they name check The Stone Roses' This Is The One. It didn't cross my mind but now I've heard the similarity I certainly won't be able to unhear it.

WMTTB always reminds me of Phil Lynott's "Yellow Pearl" (which I love but everyone else seems to hate). I half expect James to start belting out "attack, attack, attack - is what we lack!" when he gets to the chorus. Would be a Manics-esque line as well; let's go to war, like. ;-)

Noticed just now the single is £1.99 on Amazon but only has one rating, which is 2 stars and says "very weak effort". Oh well.
