The album is not as good as their (mates' ) reviews implied but it is still a Manics album and its still worth a listen. But there is no way it is a 8/10 or a 9/10 album (the two highest ratings above in the poll). I'm beginning to appreciate it more simply for the fact of it being a Manics album and the fact that the guys are mid 40s and who knows how many more we will get. I really wish I'd gotten the signed deluxe version now.

Jesus, 8/10...9/10? Are you people mental? It's good and all, but it's not *that* good!

what if it actually IS and it's your own barriers on enjoyment that is stopping you liking it more. You do realise if you play it backwards a voice that sounds like Richey says " I'm in scarborough endulging in a light-bulb eating competition with a man named ron who has Vertigo".

But seriously this album has made most of the usual brigade eat humble pie or quieter down a bit. And let's be honest it really is a usual bunch! It's nice to see some of those have admitted it's good. Obviously some never will but it's a step in the right direction! |

OK, best way is coming up with things I like about it.
1. The instrumental passage in Black Square (I'd rather not abbreviate it, as I've just realised that's somewhat unfortunate). 2. The funk of Misguided Missile and the chorus. (If I added a point for everything, I'd come up with 16/10 which is not on the list) 3. The Apple baiting quote that opens Mayakovsky and the haunting ending. (Apple as in McCartney) 4. The sheer joy of Sex, Power, Love And Money. 5. The beautiful guest vocal and instruments of Divine Youth. 6. Nina Hoss's contributions. 7. Dreaming A City (Hughesovka) total rush. 8. The final minute or so from Between The Clock And The Bed. 9. Nicky's really written some good lyrics. There's no "Like a..." lines any more. 10. The chords in the chorus of Walk Me To The Bridge. 11. Sean's guitar solo on Misguided Missile. 12. James's lyrics on The Next Jet To Leave Moscow. 13. Bugger, I've done more than ten. So sod it, I may as well vote 9/10 then! |

Futurology is looking like a top 5 in my view. OK there's some lame tracks on there, but it's fresh territory for them, and for a band which has been going this long, that's a brave move. Not so keen on the title track, it's a bit bland if you ask me. Favourites - Dreaming a City (needs an autobahn and a fast car), Europa (Nina Hoss is fabulous), Divine Youth (utterly beautiful) and The Last Time I Saw Paris is just stunning. I know it's not a standard issue track, but it should be. Weird, twisted and just compelling.

I really like all the songs on this album the more I listen to it

Still a 7 for me. Not great, but good enough to keep them interesting. Couldve been higher had the bonus tracks been included and Futurology and SPLAM omitted.

I gave 7 initially, though would have been nice to have the bonus tracks on the album also

Listened to Futurology in full this afternoon for the first time in a few years.
I loved it at the time but the last few years I’ve been listening to older Manics - albums I’m not as keen on like TIMT, GATS - as well as lots of RIF with it being their most recent album. I’d forgotten how good it is. Album still stands strong and I always forget just how good The Last Time I Saw Paris is. |

Might be how long I've been into them, but I'm picking their last three albums to listen to over THB etc lately.
Manics always said they were out of step. So European album before the 2016 vote. Typical MSP. I still love Futurology as much as 2014. But seem to be playing RIF more. Futurology current second favourite! |

I loved Simple Minds as a kid so this album is amazing.
Dreaming of a City is AMAZING |

Strange (in a nice way) to see this pop up again.
I am as hardcore as the best on here, but I have very little memory of Futurology. RTF and Futurology was a weird time in my fandom. Futurology must be tied with GATS for the worst album cover? |

THB gig at The Roundhouse in 2014 was great for obvious reasons, and playing Dreaming A City in the second set was a big highlight. |

I put on the cd last week and played it on repeat a good number of times, really forgot how good it is from start to end, but then it is the Manics
