Dammit, it looks like I'm gonna have to get an external cd drive and look into (incredibly booooring) ripping software, because getting manics stuff lossless, digital and legal is harder than buying hardware to do it.
I motivate myself with the idea of using disc three's remastered b-sides and the (probably) ill-fitting disc 1 Prologue to History to make a Prologue to History EP. The running order they've put the b-sides in is pretty telling. I always like rarities compilations because it forces the band to spill the beans on how they'd sequence this stuff. (Lending an air of "canon" to my own attempts). Check this out! 1. Prologue to History 2. Montana / Autumn / 78 3. Black Holes for the Young 4. Valley Boy 5. Socialist Serenade 6. Buildings for Dead People This looks *sweet* to me, with the tracks mastered and chunky. They really didn't release a single uninteresting track those 2 years. The TIMTTMY b-sides also exhibit the massive musical scope and instrumental experimentalism of the era. Buildings and Valley Boy have some of their best and most sweeping guitar work. Yet retain that sad oddness (weird vocal effects and melodies and lyrics) of the album. This EP is gonna be a real treat. Last edited by Marat Sar; 24-11-2018 at 15:59. |

Broken stereo unit thing, but everything these days I play through my PS3. Looking forward to ripping the discs and getting playlist of the album as remembered tracklist, then the b-sides, the rehearsal stuff and the remixes to end.
That's my plan for Christmas Day but look forward to your comments when it's released in a few weeks. If it was any other album or band I just wouldn't go to these lengths, and would probably listen to those discs as is. |

David Owens from Wales Online has tweeted this:
Tomorrow morning at 9.30am on @WalesOnline we have some massive @Manics news for you. Don't miss it. So I take it this will be the Welsh Truth date then! |

Ha yes -- thanks!
I see it on the site now too. But: 1. "A digital download code" is very vague. What if it's just mp3's? 2. Only with vinyl editions (I don't want vinyls, just want my PC computer to play lossless audio) I'm gonna check major sites like hd tracks etc, after release, maybe it's up there... Still, this is another manics ancientism. Radiohead have 24 bit wavs on release, just click and buy. |

Qobuz and 7Digital may well have the new release as lossless files (don't recall/know where you are/what stores you have access to?).

With only a week left to change their minds again, it seems they might have settled on dumping Nobody Loved You on the end of the album on digital versions but removing it completely from physical ones (unless as a hidden track).
PTH as track 12 and NLY as track 14 only makes the whole thing more stupid. |

Reviews starting to appear
http://drownedinsound.com/releases/2...eviews/4152157 Apparently Naysmith's Wurlitzer is more prominent on the rehearsal tracks. Anyone know how to get a refund from the manicsstore ? |

All feels very thrown together to me. But still glad it’s there...

Yeah I’m surprised at the lack of videos, particularly as they had a lot of TV coverage and played a shitload of gigs around the TIMT era. I thought Tolerate and Ready For Drowning from the 20th Century DVD would be lifted at least.
Given how Nicky has said that his archives hold more TIMT stuff than anything else, I wonder if we’ll get a 30-year edition in 2028. We had a ten and 20 for THB so no reason for him not to revisit this in years to come. |

I think its really unfair to say theyve put next to no thought or effort into this release. Amazon is now showing what appears to be the back cover.
